When Volkswagen revived the Scirocco name, back in 2008, people were pleased to see that the Wolfsburg manufacturer was capable of making interesting and different cars. It really stood out in a positive way in the VW range, and while it was not to everybody's taste, it did manage to sell 10,000 units in its first two years of production, thus deeming itself worthy of a place in the range.

The new model is set to make its debut around the year 2015, and according to a report fromCaradvice, who spoke to Volkswagen Group head of design Walter de Silva, it will be revolutionary.
“It must be completely different. Completely,” de Silva was quoted as saying. “We don’t want to repeat the body style of the Scirocco, we want to change that. At the moment, it’s only a studio [project]. It’s not defined at the moment. We are still working…but we are looking 360 degrees,” he added
If they don't have their own ideas, perhaps they could take some inspiration from thisinteresting proposition.
Whatever plans VW may have, the next Scirocco will be a front-wheel drive car with all-wheel drive possibly offered as an option, so it will use the MQB platform that underpins the latest Golf, with which it will also share its range of engines. Furthermore, the new Scirocco might break the ice for the US market - the current model is not offered Stateside, as it not only steps on the toes of the GTI but it's also too expensive to be imported.
The new Scirocco promises to be a better different Volkswagen, so we look to 2015 with anticipation. Automotive design trends could change in two years, so we really don't know what we're going to get.

He means it will be a traditional coupe instead of a low roof hatchback. Which unlike the CLS, did not start any trend anywhere. Unique ? Ok. But, too niche.

Haha, I was just thinking about that car. And that is quite a pity, because Scirocco is my favorite VW, infact, the only I like.

This is a car the could/will raise the profile of Volkswagen in the US, its proved popular else where in the world and I reckon it will be a roaring success stateside.

What's the problem with the current execution? It's a gorgeous car and arguably the most desirable in VW's line up. The only problem is the interior is now a dinosaur compared to newer rivals, oh and the price gouging by VW here in the Australian market.

Rendering – 2015 VW Scirocco

The 2015 Volkswagen Scirocco was recently spied during a test run in North America. With the next generation Mk4 model due to arrive by 2016, the third generation Volkswagen Scirocco will undergo one last facelift to hold out until the introduction of the new model.
The Scirocco facelift will incorporate a redesigned front fascia in the form of new headlights, a new grille and a tweaked front bumper. The rear fascia will remain the same.

While the updated hatch may also sport refreshed interiors according to unconfirmed reports, here’s a speculative exterior rendering of the facelifted Scirocco from DesignRM featuring the expected updates.
The front fascia is equipped with a twin-lens headlamp unit which is quite distinct to the present outgoing model. The upcoming Volkswagen Scirocco retains the razor thin-grille with the VW logo on the descended part of the bonnet. A new front bumper with smaller air dam and aerodynamic fins, familiar to the fans of the Golf GTI, are also seen as part of the update. Contrary to the ‘Interlagos’ alloy wheels as seen in the current model, the facelift is planted on new five-spoke alloy wheels which make it look a lot sportier.

The third generation Volkswagen Scirocco that’s presently on sale was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2008. Engine options for the current model include the 1.4L TSI petrol (122bhp and 160bhp), a 2.0L TSI petrol (210bhp and 265bhp) and a 2.0L turbo-diesel (140bhp and 170bhp). All engine options can be availed with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox, while the 6-speed DSG transmission can be had with the 2.0L engine, and a 7-speed DSG auto gearbox can be availed with the 160PS 1.4L engine.
