Reasonably priced, the chances of the MEB Entry vehicles becoming absolutely ubiquitous on EU roads are very high indeed.:

Looks fantastic. Exactly what VW stands for. Small, affordable vehicles with great design and quality.

Forget about large sedans, 4dr coupes and big SUVs. VAG can cover those segments with its other, more premium brands.

I would agree but America they need to cover those SUV segments, the sales are too great as is the money.

Thomas appears to be very impressed by the ID.Polo prototype:

That’s an EV that makes sense.

What makes sense is that it, along with its VAG MEB Entry siblings, as well as the new electric Renault 5 have a very good chance of getting FAR more car owners/leasers into EVs. And should the experience be rewarding, we may witness an example of "trickle-up" consumer trends and economics.

I see that just an 100% town only

I predict a good number of suburbanites as well as pensioners (there are an abundance of those here in Germany, myself included). Should my old small SUV give up it's ghost (heavens forbid !), the ID.Polo, along with the Skoda Epiq, will most certainly be on my shortlist.

Just an objective question...for people who travel between cities, medium to long miles, having an 150miles range with an 2 hours charging that range compared to an diesel/hybrid that has 500 miles range with 2minutes refuel, how this helps the consumer/user? ...I mean for me these kind of cars are for 1-50km/day range.
Plus, i know its an VW, but it is small, cars like these should be for town, we had a lot of fatal accidents with small cars like Polo,Spring,i20 on the motorway where the speeds are a lot higher than in town
You live in Germany, it doesnt count...there only if you want you will make a crash based on my experience

Small, net capacity (37kW) battery has an estimated "real life, realistic condition" range of approx. 200kms in winter temperatures + predominately Autobahn driving and some 280kms in milder climatic conditions + mixed road journeys. So yes, more suitable for urban environments and shorter distances. For the larger battery (52kW net capacity), those ranges are notched up some 70-to-80 kms. Taking that into consideration, I could easily navigate the Hamburg-to-Berlin route (approx. 300km distance) with the larger battery and have some charge to spare. Taking into account that the charging network in Germany has reached a quite acceptable standard and should continue to grow in density, the larger battery versions of the MEB+ Entry vehicles become a viable proposition to more than those who are exclusively resident city drivers. Availability of charging at reasonable prices is far more crucial than range.

Looking at the ID2 (Polo) and ID Cross, and taking into account EU will raise the ban on ICE engines - makes me wonder if I should wait for the Golf 9, or go with the Golf 8.5.

I really like this latest design from VW.
