A8/S8 [Official] The new Audi A8

One very positive sign is that Germans, young entrepreneurial start-ups as well as large high technology enterprises are increasingly embracing cooperation with partners in countries in which the most innovative of high technology is highlighted. China, Israel and North America. The young talent pool in Germany is formidable. But the afore mentioned partners can push things into market-ready fruition rapidly.
Yes I have noticed this alot lately, which is a very positive point you making, that the German car brands at least are embracing with making business partnerships or even purchasing some innovative start up companies (in the EV and software field) in other countries to boost their knowledge pool and bring their cars to fruition earlier. Also making partnerships with Chinese companies is crucial to be able to bring the best tech to the Chinese car consumers, as they very much focused on having the newest software and charging tech in their EVs.

One good thing out of all this, is the car buyer is going to be the winner. Cars are getting super advanced and not so primitive in their software and battery tech. They soon will be catching up with mobile phones.

Rumours are beginning to emerge that Audi (or SAIC AUDI) may present a concept "A8 successor" at the Beijing Auto China 2026 exhibition next spring. Details however remain very sketchy. BEV or REEV powertrain appear a given.

Different from the grandsphere I think 🤔

Yep...it looks more and more like Audi AG will be delegating the task at hand aka "electric Audi A8 sedan successor to the D5" to one of it's Chinese joint-venture cooperation partners. So...AUDI E8, I suspect.

Audi with its brand transforming focus on engineering and leap in forward thinking in technology and innovation, formally the automotive equivalent of Sydney Sweeney.
Hot! New on the streets And a new perspective to choose over the legacy brands.
Now reduced to being an influencer selling pictures of their feet to attract a Chinese sugar daddy which they will probably call an AUDI not an Audi.

What will happen to the A8's fate? Is there any official development regarding this? The 7 Series and S-Class will get facelifts in 2026, which will be almost the second development for the rivals on top of the A8's introduction. The A8 is now quite old and will celebrate its 9th year in 2026. Frankly, it will be a technologically and design-wise quite outdated car compared to the 7 Series and S-Class.

"Mumm" is the word it seems. An absolute dearth of news. The last I've seen was some speculation that SAIC AUDI would be delegated the task of developing the next BEV/REEV large luxury segment conventional sedan while Audi AG in Germany will concentrate efforts on a 4 door GT or 4 door shooting brake sort of vehicle that will replace both the etron GT and current A8. It seems that Audi AG wants to avoid direct confrontation with the S-Class and 7 series in the future and is seeking a special niche. Somehow, I have a hunch that we will be seeing some sort of "Radical Next" themed concept come 2027.

I agree, they should definitely avoid direct comparison to the S and 7. It will also set the car up better for the future. They have nothing to lose in this segment.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
