Hey Guys,

I have 245/35/20 Goodyear run-on flat tires, I have found that the front right tire has damage in the side wall due to a very hard bump on the highway

First question, is it okay to replace this tire with non-run on flat tire with keeping the other side run-on flat ?

Second, I'm thinking of upgrading both size to 245/40/20, do you guys think it is a good idea ? I also recall that I need to calibrate the car speed meter (tachometer)

Lastly, since Goodyear was damaged with 10,000 km on mileage, I would like to change to other brand, any thought on the most reliable tire brand ?

The car is W213 E400 Mercedes Benz with 20'' AMG Wheels

Looking forward for your expert opinions

I will recommend to replace it with another run flat tire, since a non run flat tire will have a different characteristic compare to a run flat tire, it is best to keep all 4 corners of the car balanced. And another thing, is there enough clearance for the front wheels to accept a larger diameter front tire?

I'm thinking of changing both front tires to non run flat tire to keep the balance, although the car is 4 matic but I dont think it will disturb the balance.

Yes, there is too much clearance to accomodate a bigger tire, but do you know what is excatly requered ? Only the tachometer calibration? it will not affect the traction control for example ?

Hi I don't know if it will effect your warranty changing size and non run flat..

If it does not and you can I would change all four to non run flat ..Don't only change two change all 4.

Just my view but first check warranty and insurance.

Just to update you, I have replaced 2 front tires (Hankook non- run flats), the tire print is normal and I feel that the car is now even quitter and little softer.

The bad news is, the rim is bent :( , I need to repair it before I do more damage to the car suspension system or steering system.

Yeah you should repair it asap..

If you changed all four your car would have been much smoother I think.
