It's a "phase of growing up" in the christian church that happens when you're 15. After your confirmation you get to get married in a church and become a godfather to someone, and then there's a couple of other things you get to do that I can't remember.

Confirmation day is the day you confirm your religious creed towards the Christian church and are initiated. It is a way of sealing the deal given to you through baptism, as you were to small to have a say back then

In Sweden we are quite seculairzed, so we also have confirmations that are non-religious...
