E-Class W212 The V12 powered E600 question.

The W212 and S212 Mercedes-Benz E-Class series is the fourth generation of the E-Class range of executive cars which was produced by Mercedes-Benz between 2009 and 2016 as the successor to the W211 E-Class. The body styles of the range are either four-door sedan/saloon (W212) or a five-door estate/wagon (S212).

E-Class fans, what would you think of a limited production range topper V12 powered E600 model.
(5.5liter DOHC twin-turbo, DI. 570hp/ 590lb-ft) 4-placed seating, full leather interior, standard18 in wheels. Standard Sport package exc... optional 4-matic.

Do you think it`s a silly idea with the E63 in place?

I would like a little professional feedback on this issue as to how this would work in the real world.
State your opinions please.

Yes it is, I'm afraid. Specially when the E500 is available with 4Matic in other countries (AFAIK the E550 is only available with 4Matic in North America). For some reason, BMW and Mercedes don't sell xDrive and 4Matic variants of their cars in the UK. I think they are missing a huge opportunity in not selling all wheel drive versions of the 3, 5, 6, 7, C, E, CLS, CL and S in the UK.

The only models a V12 E-Class would make sense for are the LWB and Limo versions. Smooth and quite power delivery for 6 people travelling in the car or 2 business executives.

It could make sense in China given the Chinese preference for LWB models.

^^
Don't forget the E-Class limo in the middle east. They absolutely love it over there and during the summer when the Arabs invade London I see countless 6 door E-Class limo's used for drive families around.

The Binz conversion, you mean?

These families were probably being chauffeured to a funeral, since the Binz E-class is very much used by funeral homes. They also use the 6-door stretched Volvo S80 and even a bizarre 6-door stretched Vauxhall Insignia.

Elsewhere in the world, however, the E-class assumes the "S-class' character" of being the set of wheels of CEO's, diplomats and the wealthy in general, so I understand your point.

I think it would be pointless and pure gluttony (that's probably a good case for it to some people then, lol). The E63 is already plenty powerful. The only reason it would be be considered by M-B is to give the E-Class range such an exotic flagship type of halo car, however, the E63 already fills that for the most part.

I think it'd be pointless, but if they did consider doing it, I'd think that marketing would be the key reason.

Someone somewhere will buy one, just like how my friend's parents bought the original Passat W8, brand new.

Brabus, Renntech.... all have V12 powered E class. Somewhere I still have the Dec 98? Car and Drive where they test the Renntech V12 powered W210. The cost of those cars is $200K+ and a donor car.
There isn't the room for the V12 and 4matic in the S class let alone E. The extra weight of the V12 would need suspension upgrades and I think it would need something more than just the standard sport package.

If anything do a Supersport E63 with those hp/torque ratings and possible 4 matic, with full leather, 4 place seating, 18/19 inch wheels.

Sat in the E-Class yesterday. It is such a high-quality feeling car. The doors and materials and the way it envelops you. BMWs just don't feel like that. When is the facelift?

Nope. It's used for shopping at Gucci, LV etc. Some have UK plates but others gets flown in from the Middle East and then back.

Here in SA i don't think it would work much...We hardly see E 500 on the roads so i doubt a E 600 would work .yes you may get a handful who would buy but i would rather see a bigger diesel engine in the Mercedes lineup like a E 400 CDI or something...

That all sounds good but when the SBC goes out you will die and Mercedes will bale out on fixing the brakes. But you will be dead so I guess it doesn't matter. Mercedes has a problem with SBC so the brakes will go out.

Go away you ignorant troll, if you insist on talking crap about something at least understand what the hell you are talking about.

First of all the Mercedes dropped the SBC from the facelifted W211 onwards. Having said that I know two people who had experienced SBC failures. One was my friend's dad, he bought the W211 E320 right after it was launched and the SBC failed while he was driving on a quiet street. The other person was my dad's friend, he had a W211 E240, the SBC packed up while he was on the motorway, he managed to coast to a stop. The dealer offered to replace his car for free, on the condition he will keep his silence on this matter. We have a 2005 E350 with SBC fitted, the brakes have been faultless.
