Really impressive. I expected around 10-14 seconds faster laptime. But not 20! Tyre progress does wonders. But still shows just how amazing and legendary the Carrera GT still is after two decades...

Porsche Carrera GT(Cup2): 7:12.69
That's a cracking lap! Driven by Bergmeister himself, so not directly comparable to all the other SA laps, but still really fast considering it's on Cup 2s only and not Cup 2 Rs. It's faster than the 918 (and higher speed on the straight) :ROFLMAO:. It is also the fastest SA lap with a manual (and the second fastest overall after the Viper ACR).

Also, amusingly, higher cornering speeds than the 296 GTB on Cup 2 Rs (at least at the corners I measure).

Can we take this to mean that all sports/super sports cars in the 2000s we can expect to be 12-16 seconds faster on the 'Ring due to 20 years newer and faster tire technology?

Remember that in the original 2003 supertest the Carrera GT was using Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, not the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup, which for example the M3 CSL used.

That new customed N0 CUP2C is probably close to Non-OE CUP2R in terms of compound and weight optimization, just another crazy N-Spec OE tyre from Porsche:)

Sorry, but that's just wishful thinking.
If there's a change in grip, I would suspect this new tire to be less grippy than a comparable GT3 spec Cup 2. Not more.
It has to do with projected 2026 Euro 7 tire emission bullshit. They say as much in the article.

This testcar was noticeable slower than the one tested by AutoBild Sportscars: when the other one reached 300 km/h, this was barely over 280... (AMuS tests with 2 people onboard however).

Also, it's 0.5 seconds quicker to 100 km/h and a full second to 200 km/h than its predecessor, the 992.1 GTS PDK.

Interesting acceleration comparison graph, the AM seems quite behind the Porsche until 220km/h then overtakes it and then after about 260km/h the Porsche gets a 2nd wind and starts catching the AM and overtakes it about 285/290km/h!
