5 Series [Official] The New BMW 5 Series (G60)

The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured and marketed by BMW since 1972. The car is sold as either a sedan or, since 1991, a station wagon (marketed as "Touring"). A 5-door fastback (marketed as "Gran Turismo") was sold between 2009 and 2017. Each successive generation has been given an internal G-code designation since 2017. Previously, a F-code designation was used between 2010 and 2016, while an E-code designation was used between 1972 and 2010. These are used to distinguish each model and generation from each other.

It's Official: The New BMW 5 Series G60
Sporty elegance and striking presence with a new design language.

A clear and reduced design language emphasises the new 5 Series Sedan’s sporty elegance and presence. Compared to the predecessor model, the new edition has grown in length by 97 millimetres to 5,060 millimetres, in width by 32 millimetres to 1,900 millimetres and in height by 36 millimetres to 1,515 millimetres. Its wheelbase was lengthened by 20 millimetres to 2,995 millimetres.

The front view of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan is characterised by a modern interpretation of the twin headlights and BMW kidney grille. LED elements arranged almost vertically serve as turn indicators and daytime driving lights. The BMW kidney grille, which projects far forward, features a wide surround and optional BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting.

Now let's wait for the G60. I don't think it will look that effective. The headlights will look very similar to the X1. The overall silhouette will resemble the E-class. The interior won't be thrilling, with a classic display that looks similar to the G70. Mercedes may have come to the fore in design 2 generations later. BMW has been at the forefront of design since F10.

As usual, many opinions based on low definition leaked pictures. Let’s wait and see how this turns out. BMW’s are always better looking in real life than on pictures. I for once prefer this i5 M Sport version over that of i7, notably the high-gloss black front which I don’t like on the i7.

The proportions are a bit weird. Looks like a FWD model for some reason. It also looks smaller than what it actually is. And those taillights need some work. Where’s the classic L shape ?

I still can't believe this is the new 5 series. It looks like the 5 GT that has been discontinued. The sleek sedan form has disappeared. The idea of electrifying existing models again turned out to be bad. too high body, disproportionate size. the backlight units did not match the BMW identity. The car looks like a new model from asian manufacturers.

Woah! The tail lights are a slam dunk. 90s inspired, confident and simple. I think they will give a very wide impression on the M5 with flared fenders.

I'm a bit disappointed that the interior isn't more alike the 2 Series Active Tourer but is leaning towards the 7 but watered down and corporate looking.

My thoughts too on the rear tail lights. Solid and confident. Grounded. Need to see proper pictures and the regular M Sport...non i5 with the chrome grille and window treatment + proper interior pics with contrast trim options.

If this is really what the new 5-series looks like, then it's a massive disappointment and looks even worse than the G30 LCI. There is way too much fugly shiny black plastic on the grill and front intakes and the tail lights and back bumper don't look that attractive. The interior looks good, a bit of a mix of iX and 7 series and I especially like the seats and colour of the seat trim.
