1. Mercedes S-Class - One of the best looking sedans of all times. From the high quality materials to new world class leading technology. What puts the S-class above the rest form me is the S65 AMG. The capabilities of this vehicle are remarkable and the fact that no other sedan can compete put it as number 1.

2. The BMW 7 series - As much as I hate BMW's philosphy and reasoning in marketing their products the 7 series has been one of my favorites sedans. The car has a classic appearence and entertaining and inviting interior.

3. Jaguar XJ -Although the rear is still questionable they came ready for battle. The new XJ is exciting and different and they don't pretend to be like everyone else. Considering the previous XJ has been the same for so long, the new model is a complete fresh breathe of air.

4. Porsche Panamera - The interior and the engine :icondrool

5. Maserati Quattroporte - Different and exciting. Has a lot of road presence.

6. Audi A8 - Still an amazing car, but old.

7. Flying Spur - Well it's a Bentley....design is old and getting bland....But it's a Bentley.

8. RR Ghost - Final product is not out, but I like what I've been seeing in the spy shots. Of course, i'm still upset about BMW owning it to ever be considered an RR fan like I once was.

9. Lexus LS - Boring, but dependable.

Same ol deal for me, here goes my list ...

1. S class : Hands Down
2. 7 Series: I think some of you have forgotten how good BMWs are, id never preffer any of the other ugly stupid flagships over this BMW for 2 reasons: 1- its the BMW 7 series, and 2- as much as ive criticized the exterior design, it has grown on me, but one thing for sure none of the other cars look anywhere close to as good as this, leave functionality aside because this car is a winner..
3. Audi A8: Because this car is as serious as it can be, the Audi attitude and appeal is one of a kind, and I appreciate this car and believe it has to be marketted better next time around ..

As for the rest, to me they are useless... They should be prohibited from making large size flagship sedans because they just dont belong in this segment, Id leave Lexus out of that group though, all they need to do is work on their interior and exterior :D.. So boring ..

^ Wow the Jag, Porsche and Maserati are useless to you?

Im a car fan that likes to see each brand play its role correctly, never did I criticize a BMW or an Audi, or a ferrari or a lambo. They have their approach to the market, and that hasnt changed. So far

Wow no matter how we try to disguise it, this will always emerge as a battle between good and evil, aka Mercedes vs. BMW. :D

Yea it seems like no other vehicle stands a chance against the two. People are loyal to their brand tell the very end.

I just knew Porsche would have taken some more votes. Even the new Jaguar got passed by..

I also thought the Porsche, Maserati and Jaguar would get more votes.

Don't much care for the A8 or LS but the A8 only because it's dated.

To continue my biasness, the LS because it's Asian! :D

PS: I drive Asian, Honda to be more specific, but tomorrow bye bye because I am selling, back to American boring sedan until I find me a nice Turbo Bimmer.

I'm surprised the Maserati didn't get more votes.

Out of all these overly large four door saloons, the Quattroporte has the most enriching exhaust note. It sounds like a Ferrari but ironically doesn't sound like one. I'm a great fan of the design, it does emotionally touch you when it rolls by. The reason I would not buy it is because of questionable build quality in addition to the mediocre performance -- in fact, it makes the Panamera obscene prices reasonable.

The S-Class taking home most of the votes was predictable, after all it is the car that define Mercedes. It is the starting point of the entire line-up. Mercedes develops a new S-Class and then filter the design and functionality downwards. Thus it is a car of zero compromise. BMW on the other hand, has the 3-Series as their golden nugget. For years the 3-Series and M3 has been the definition of a sporty passenger car with driving dynamics that BMW have to some extent emulated in their other cars. The sporty ingredient is a marvel, but is not the paramount attribute sought after in the segment.

Another manufacturer employing the same strategy as BMW is off course Porsche. But they have taken it to the obscene level of gifting every new car with heavy 911 design influences. What makes them differ from BMW is their aspiration to be the best. The Panamera is not just sporty but it does the impossible of being a luxury cruiser and an impossibly capable road demon. It has a Veyron-ism to it, as it ooze of grand achievement with it's mystique design and well crafted interior.

That is so true! With out the S-class there would be no Mercedes. It is truly a remarkable car that has been around for a long time. No other company can take that away. I just hope the W222 can keep up that tradition.

LOL...thats a little extreme. Yes the S-Class is the marquee flagship, but the SL, E and CL aren't exactly forgettable.

^^
Yes yes. Mercedes is by no means a one trick pony. They've produced multiple classics that have augmented the brand's reputation as a pioneering luxury car manufacturer.

The SL is fine, but it doesn't bring MB as many sales as the S-class. The CL is completely based of the S-class...so it is just that. The E-class is Benz bread and butter sedan, but it is and never will be the legend the S-class is.

As we saw with the W220, when the S-class goes down...Benz will see major problems. Yes, the first generation ML cause big trouble, but not as bad as the quality issues of the S.

Mercedes-Benz revolves around the S-class. Of course the others have help with the success of Mercedes-Benz and produce some major milestones, but the S-class is the throne.
