Movies The "I Saw _____ " (Movie) Recently Thread

Just watched Top Gun Maverick.

Bro hug goes out to @M.N.D for being a better pilot than me.

So I watched The Flash Movie that's currently out. I went in completely blind I knew absolutely nothing about it. After I came out 8/10 no questions asked an incredible film.

I'm going for a second viewing but I don't want to spoil it for anyone. One WB's finest.

Indiana Jones & The Dial Of Destiny.
Another Lucasfilm triumph.

Indiana Jones & The Last Jedi.
Indiana Jones & The Fury of the Disney Shareholders.

That's got absolutely nothing to do with what I've written? I liked the film fullstop and primary because of Micheal Keaton reprising his role of Batman after the original in 1989 (for me) that included the Prince Soundtrack. Peerless to me then for a multitude of reasons.

I don't give a toss if the McDonald's Corporation made it with Clown money from the Dark side of the Moon. Completely irrelevant.

HINT>"The "I Saw _____ " (Movie) Recently Thread."

Self explanatory. Just saying.

Errant quote most likely, SCOTT has removed it.

I don't believe so. He's talking about the business and finance side. I wasn't, simply a few lines of review~ I didn't even want to spoil it. But I'm definitely going again now!

Anyway forget it. It's done.

Quoted in Error.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
I don't know how much of it was the writing or her writing in particular considering Pervis and Wade wrote the lion-share of the script, but there were areas that were a little hackey, i.e. having a quick drink with Paloma during their skirmish in Cuba. I don't put the onus wholly at her feet.

The whole premise was just off. And it seemed it wanted to tie everything into a nice bow. I don't recall a modern M bumbling as much as he did here. There were some decent set pieces like the whole Italy and Norway bits.

was similar to the issue I've had with Skyfall (which I rank as the 2nd best Craig era Bond film). Whereas in Skyfall while Silva dies, he accomplishes his goals despite Bond's best efforts. In NTTD, Bond bungles MI-6's apprehension of the rogue scientist and leads to needless escalation and his eventual demise. Frankly, I am pretty agnostic about him dying, but it was such dumb way to die. Eventually, there was some time for it.

Perhaps I had too high of expectations, but I think Craig-era Bond deserved a much better send-off than it got. I felt rather annoyed and unsatisfied.

IMO his death allows the franchise to be rebooted, which didn't need to happen. You just know that whatever comes next is going to be shit! Bonds audience wants Bond to be Bond, I get the feeling Bonds owners don't want this, they're going to do something stupid like Bud Lite did getting a gay man in a dress to advertise beer. I have no issue with gay men or men choosing to wear dresses, I own a kilt, but they failed to understand the target audience and it backfired.

I dunno, Bond can probably pull off wearing a dress.

I'm going out on a limb here Lazenby was a better Bond than Connery. On Her Majesty's Secret Service was one of the best if not the best early Bond film. You should watch the documentary Becoming Bond, it's really interesting.

I agree OHMSS is an under rated Bond film, not sure about Lazenby though. It got off to a bad start with the 'that other fella' line, and while mostly he was fine during the film, I can't help but wonder if the end of the film would have had more of an impact if it had been Connery.

I am fairly ambivalent about him dying at the end. Though, in a way, it's fitting with Craig's portrayal of a man who, if he wasn't a government agent who tries to topple criminal terrorist syndicates, would be a deeply unbalanced and fairly ruthless psychopath. It'd almost be odd if he rode off with a wife and kid and lived a fairly mild-mannered existence.
