Provided that our economy doesn't irreversably tank (in view of current events and their consequences), we will be seeing great masses of these occupying space in Germanys' urban traffic environments. Most of them white panel deliveries, wearing company logos.

Why? It makes no economical sense. The whole front half of this vehicle is useless for comercial purposes. Combined with the high floor it makes for rather cramped loading compartment. Add to this the expected high price and you end up with a rather inefficient product concerning space utilization. Few peoplw by comercial vehicles just because of the looks and the image.

A.) It's electric. Younger entrepreneurs and craftspersons will appreciate that. Especially in urban environments.

B.) It's "funky" and makes a statement that lies somewhere between "hip" and "retro" . To the above mentioned clientele, this is important despite it being a
commercial vehicle "Projecting a "hip "image" is a significant criteria for younger gastronomes, craft brewers, bespoke cabinetmakers, textile merchants, florists, etc.
These professionals may also be dealing with a younger "environmentally conscious" clientele that "ideologically" frown upon diesel-engined vehicles.

C.) Incentives. VW Commercial Vehicles will want to "push" the Cargo variants with vigour.

D.) VAG having the federal state of Lower Saxony as a major share holder and having production facilities there and elsewhere in Germany. Municipalities and communal
customers will especially be lured behind the electric Cargos' wheels due to major incentives. And, there is the issue of "domestic manufacturer" suppliers. And here,
VAG enjoys a position that is dominant.

More of the Cargo version

Indeed the loading sill is noticeably higher than in a traditional ICE-powered utility van, however the great overall height (1m94) should in part make up for that and allow for sufficient cargo volume for those businesses that are carrying around reasonably sized equipment (plumber, electrician...).

So what's the range of the Cargo version? What's the recharging time? And what's the payload? No good being kind to Greta if it has a pathetic payload.

Btw, @advantage20 this is a Peugeot 504 pickup diesel. Quite possibly the slowest vehicle ever made, but it had a VERY impressive payload of 1,300 Kilograms. It was a sales hit with owners of hardware stores over here.

I seen an ID Buzz with its psychedelic swirl fractal colourful camouflage in Berlin as they amp up the reaction to what VW perceive as the modern Kombi.
it doesn’t fit that perceived image in this era, it’s nostalgic less.

I'm not totally sure what you mean in this part (especially the bold letters), neither my English nor the translator makes it very clear to me but...

If it's what I think, it seems to me quite the opposite, somehow when I see it (especially the front, but also the rest) it naturally evokes the original, it's not forced, but automatic, I can't help but think that it captures the essence of the "iconic" microbus, which I consider a gigantic achievement of the designers who managed to surgically transfer it to the present.

To exemplify it, if BMW wanted to do the same with the i3 / Isseta, (of which I am not even sure), they did not succeed, since the resemblance between the two is null, better also than the new Beetle, it is as well made as the new MINI is compared to the original.

I preferred the first Microbus concept which had more of the Kombi aesthetics. Same as I am for the very first incarnation of the VW Beetle.
The modern incarnations are made for liberals auditioning for a watchlist.

It depends on the type of loads you're carrying. I could see this being very popular for postal services and inner city couriers.

Now...Did I understand this correctly ? Starting prices at...65,000.- Euros ?!?

Are they f***ing out of their minds ??

No, they're not. Electric cars are expensive. Get used to; it's the future, remember? You'll own nothing and be happy. You asked for it... Now deal with it.

Told you it's too expensive but you said that a lot of small businesses will use it as a commercial vehicle. Are still on this opinion?
