The Chinese copycats thread

SAIC are partners with VAG in China, SAIC builds a lot of VW models.

I'd say its better looking that the Porsche, the Taycan can look a little clumsy from some angles this one appears to fix that.

One could easily argue...patently brazen...

The soon to be officially presented HIMA Saic P7. So blatantly "Porsche Taycan".

Most blatantly presented in these independent designer's illustrations:

As independent as a Siamese twin.

The Taycan is so good in terms of design (and everything else), that it would seem that all the blatant copycat Chinese companies have a mural of it on the largest wall of their design centers; more than a dozen have taken it as a base and replicated it almost exactly.

It is simply amazing just how this "new" brand has impacted the automotive market. 100K reservations in the 15 days following the opening of the customer ordering process for the "facelifted and upgraded" SU7.

It’s like a vision of the future….From 1985.
I was about to say the same. Gives vibes of beige 90s living room. Especially with that recessed front passenger screen. Reminds me of a media wall. If I saw this cabin on TikTok you Z, I would have mistaken it for being ai generated.

Lamborghini headlights and Bentley taillights, what a design mess, the rest is very good, what do you think?

Design is improving and heading in the right direction. Suspension/handling is where they are behind. However I think that weakness will be solved in the next 3-5 years.

An interesting video appearing in welt.de*:

I dunno...

With the first Auto China 2026 "walk around the exhibition" videos appearing, I felt some apprehension when the Mercedes-Benz AG venue was featured. An assortment of some beautiful classic M-B vehicles. But is that the sole "highlight" of genuine interest for the attending Chinese public ?

Not the only one, but it's one of the few assets the Chinese can't match, so I think it should always be exploited in some way. I was just thinking about this the other day; there should always be a section of the brand's (Mercedes, BMW) display at the Chinese auto show dedicated to historic vehicles. It conveys experience, knowledge, solidity, among other things.

Thirty years ago, the Chinese didn't know what a car was; it's a completely different audience than ours, It's good to show them.
