The Chinese copycats thread

I've been in a couple of Chinese cars and, I must say, interior fit & finish at the price is impressive.

I just went to the Dutch BYD site and they have no cheap cars. Some from 45k Euro and some from 70k Euro.
Nothing cheap to be found unless you want a true piece of junk like a BYD Dolphin.

They better have good quality for the prices they ask for those cars.

Guess what Electric Car I am driving on Friday.

I went for a walk this morning and I spotted this BYD copy of what supposed to be a BMW, but looks very Chinese.

Oh look they have even copied Audi’s badging based on how much torque. Nice one, BYD. Way to go China. That’s right, bend Germany over a barrel and show them all your provinces or whatever the heck.

Dire pastiche of Defender, new Prado and Bronco.

But it's the name that's the best "Jetour". Is that like "Je t'aime" but as in "I travel"?

All these vehicles follow a similar format, what’s makes this any more a copy than the others you mentioned of each other?

Not sure what you're asking me, Rob. I didn't use the word "copy" for starters and secondly, I think it's fair to say that new Prado, Defender or Bronco aren't copies of each other. They're all pretty much their own thing.

I must say Jetour does have a good looking line up of SUV's.

The Dashing and X70 Plus look stylish.

The Interior looks great but I see a lot of Mercedes design influence with the double screens, door trim, door seat control buttons and door handle design. The HVAC screen and controls look like those in JLR cars.

A bit of an embarrassing moment for Cherry
A bit embarrassing?
It went so viral, besides destroying those 3,000-year-old railings, a media disaster, I'd say.
Furthermore, the media posted it alongside the RR video, causing a viral publicity boost at no cost to the British company

Many Champagne bottles were opened in the U.K.
This will significantly boost sales, and might be Land Rover's best advertisement ever considering how viral it went.....

Honestly. Hats off to them for trying. What other car manufacturer showcase off rowing capabilities of their crossovers? None.

First time fail, 2nd time fail, 3rd time success.
