The Chinese copycats thread

Only an SJW Karen would freak out at @Jimmy "not giving credit" to a Chinese website who probably stole the information from another website and didn't credit the original source.

PCAuto say they "recieved"* the information from the patent office. No either citations were given in their article.

*Google translate's choice of wording, may or not be representative of PCAuto finding the info for themselves.

And as far as members being SJW Karens go, your input is not required.

It is not only about when they copy complete designs without shame, but also in these details that when I see them (there are lots of this "Shineray" here), they produce an inexplicable testicular pain.

The additional detail of the "Li" is very daring and shows that they make the mold and it is ready

I can't see it being a copy. It is quite original. And the cars from this brand are far from cheap.

You can't imagine how quickly that perception changes, if Latin America is an example, it was the same scenario and in a couple of years everything changed, the overwhelming price above the image, you see them roll everywhere and understand that they don't fall to pieces as everyone thinks

Opinion poll - EU
Four out of five car buyers reject Chinese brands

"Technically, the cars of the many Chinese brands that have been making their way onto the German market for months are barely inferior to their European competitors. In terms of image, on the other hand, the newcomers are still light years ahead of their competitors. This is confirmed by a representative survey of car buyers conducted by the opinion research institute Civey on behalf of Automobilwoche."

Are they still copycats?

I get this on FB, every time there are fewer reasons people have for not buying the Chinese ones, 5 stars in crashes, very pleasing to the eye! , Toyota engine and the price $35,000!!...here a basic Countryman is worth $65,000, it cannot be denied that they stomped

I went to a Vinfast (Vietnamese manufacturer) showroom the other day. Their EVs are significantly better designed than anything else so far (the models in the nearby Tesla showroom paled in comparison). Their E36 SUV looked quite premium.

I agree, from the first day they looked very good and these new models are even better

Chinese cars are no longer the laughing stock of the industry. For a while, they were, being either rudimentary or poorly executed facsimiles of western models. That’s not the case anymore.

The quality of their manufacturing and materials used has made huge leaps. I sat in one of the new MG models recently and they seemed very well screwed together and the saloons have nice styling.

The most impressive Chinese car I ever sat in was the RR copycat Hongqi H9. It looks a bit of a mix of Maybach and RR but looks quite good in real life. The car is packed with features for the price and has loads of inside space. The interior materials used seem quite luxurious, but it wasn't built as solidly as a Mercedes S-class/E-class or 7 series/5-series as the top side of the dash and door materials showed some flex when pushed hard. The seats were excellent, soft and very comfortable.
