In the lastest issue, Swedish AMS compares the Audi A6 3.0 TDi Quattro (man), BMW 530d (aut), Jaguar XF 3.0D (aut) and Mercedes E350 CDi 4-Matic (aut).
AMS ranks them as follows:
1. BMW 530d
2. Audi A6 3.0 TDi
3. Mercedes E350 CDi
4. Jaguar XF 3.0D
The usual "BMW for the driver", "Audi for the interior space", "Mercedes for allroud ability and quality" and "Jaguar for the effort" applies to this review as well as some rather interesting notes.
For instance; the BMW is by far the most comfortable, the Jaguar's ride is too firm for bad roads and the BMW is the cheapest to run. The Audi is a long time favourite of the Swedish AMS crew and they find that it still is a really good car.
Other than that, this test seems to focus more on comfort than on sport, which of course is the right thing to do given the size and direction of the vehicles.
This is a really good review for the 5-series as the test crew finds that it beats the competition in every respect in the special "luxury car" category.
