X5 [Spyshots] Next generation BMW X5 (3rd gen) 2015?

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.

Now I can see no tangible way in which the X5 is "boxier" than either of them. To say the X5 is boxy is fine, but to say none of its competitors are boxy either is biased B.S;)

Jeep is also very boxy but X5 is definitely the most. It's my opinion you can have a different...
IT just threw me in the eye on the spy shots.

^^I always wait till the final launch for my opinion on a car. Even then, sometime you have to look in person to decide.

People define 'boxy' differently. My definition of boxy is lack of sufficient body and shoulder lines and curves or very subtle lines which makes it look boxy. Escalade is best example of boxy in my definition...very few body lines. Jeep comes next. The shoulder line on new Jeep and new ML are very similar, almost at same location below the door handles and stops at rear door. I expected more sculpted look from 3rd gen ML, since most new cars have sculpted look these days.

Beside boxy there is another look called bloaty. E63 6-series is an example of bloaty, in my opinion. Cayenne looks bloaty from certain angles.

The F15 X5 has finally broken cover in South Carolina. A few new features are viewed for the first time. Pic's will be going up in a few days. My initial eye ball to eye ball encounter with the F15 X5 leaves me with the feeling that the car is MUCH larger than the E70 model. I need to see the car a few more times up close to validate the first encounter. I have a side by side shot w/ the mule next to an E70 that helps with the size discussion compared to the current gen model. Thanks. PalBay

The proportions look super! This is once again going to be a hot SAV, for the third time in a row!

Like Palbay, btw, I am very interested to see it next to the E70. The F15 looks really big (is it really going to weigh 150 kg less than the E70?).

I posted these rear F15 X5 pic's first. This angle IMO shows the coupish roof line that Scott has been talking about. From this angle the roof line/greenhouse looks almost Audi Q7ish. First spy shots w/ fake rear taillights removed. I have some direct rear shots w/ taillights illuminated. More a little later. Thanks. PalBay

No doubt then, the next X5 will - as with previous generations will rule the roost:joyful:;)

I think the profile and rear will look great ( like the E53 and E70 ) but from the spyshots we've seen of the front partially undisquised I dont feel it will look good, I dont see how they could successfully integrate the kidney-touching headlights from the F30 on to a big SUV. Hopefully I'm wrong:)

Quite possibly the most test mules I've ever seen out at once. The number and frequency of mules out testing makes me believe BMW is fast tracking the launch of the F15 X5. Never viewed this many prototypes out this early in the development process??? The photo of the two F15 prototypes in traffic almost makes me think I'm looking at two different cars. The entire stance/look is different in the near car vs the one in front. Can tires and rims make that much of a difference?? Thanks. PalBay
