That all but has to happen now. The C is going to become a full line up it seems, sedan, coupe, wagon and convertible, that means no more C-Class based E Coupe and convertible. I can't wait to see the next E put the order back like it was during the days of the W124, where you payed a premium for the coupe and convertible, not the same price as in the current car for a lesser vehicle...i.e. a CLK.

Indeed-the "on again, off again" C-Class cabriolet appears to be coming to fruition after all. Apparently, the car finds itself so far into developement that it would be economically unfeasable not to introduce it to the market. Thus, the C-Class will eventually evolve into a 5 model line-up (sedan, SW, cab, coupe and a "sportback" type of vehicle).

Interesting will be the developement of the upcoming W213 E-Class line-up. Should a bonafide coupe + cabriolet version be offered, I would be curious as to how these cars would be positioned versus the C217 S-Coupe. In terms of dimensions, I would think that these cars' would be very close to each other.

Well I think no closer than their respective siblings are and that seems to work ok (delta of around 20 cm). Though I can't wait for the day car makers stop segmenting the lines with the motto bigger is naturally better and more expensive.

Back on topic, I`ve come to the conclusion that I don`t like that screen in the C.

If they're upgrading the next E-Klasse Coupe, it probably will be in the same price league. I think however, there's room for both of them: an upgraded E-Klasse Coupe and a 4-door CLS.
PS looking forward to a real E-Klasse Coupe like in the W124 days.

What I want to know is, if the C coupe will again offer the panoramic sunroof, it would be cool if it had the same electromagnetic sun-shade thingy that SLK and SL have... couple that with the hopefully true MB coupe style of having no B pillars, it would make for one great, elegant, airy coupe... almost like having half a cabriolet

LOL. You remember that thread. The design of W204 interior has not aged gracefully, and that is the worst photo with the worst colour combination posted above. It is horrid in that shot. That said it is built like a tank and the build quality is beyond reproach even if the plastic grains were not that refined. And I still stand by those observations many years back. The Audi felt plasticy and hollow next to the teutonic feeling C. Our interior still looks as good as the day we bought it in terms of wear and tear, I posted photos a few months back, whereas my aunts E90 3-series looks warn with soft touch coatings peeling all over the place. It feels 5 years older than the C.

If MB does go all fancy with these new interiors I really hope they maintain the build quality of the W204 and W212. I can tell you straight up as funky and cool as it may be my brand new A45 does NOT feel anywhere near as solidly built as our W204 and W212 which is a big shame!

I do remember that thread and I show to whoever says the interior of the C-Class "is not as well made as the interior of the Audi A4", in fact I even showed to Mat Watson from carbuyer, but he ignored it.

The w204 was arguably a segment leader. It won a fair share of it's comparisons, not to mention market share, against the 3-series and A4. In 2007 it won car of the year here in Oz and throughout its life has been consistently considered by the motoring press as one of the finest all round vehicles available regardless of price point. The ride and handling compromise seems to match our conditions perfectly.

Lol. F01 was arguably segment leader too then.

No! Not at all baby, I just reread the quote and I wholeheartedly retract my response! I interpreted the post I quoted as saying the A4's interior was superior to the W204.... Reading comprehension error on my end!
