C-Class [Spyshots] 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe and Cabriolet (C205)

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a series of compact executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz Group AG. Introduced in 1993 as a replacement for the 190 (W201) range, the C-Class was the smallest model in the marque's line-up until the W168 A-Class arrived in 1997.

Agree, the proportions need some work. The rear door above looks too small compared to the front. :)

^ May have been pushed back, together with the cabriolet? :)

Also under development but yet to receive a definitive production date is a C-class cabriolet. Conceived around what will be the second-generation C-class coupé...

Here is the problem on the C-cab.

To do this, Mercedes will have to admit that the Ecab is just a glorified C-class. When you look at the 205 Class compared to the current E coupe and cab, there is no comparison. The C blows it away. So, how can they announce a C-cab right now, while they are still selling the E-cab, which would actually be less car.

Here is my solution to Mercedes, no charge. Discontinue the E cabriolet. Do not have a C cab or an E cab. Just offer, the Mercedes Cabriolet. It will be based off the C-class. To me, it is not honest to call the E cab and coupe an E class, when it does not share a platform or chasis with the E-class. Is it a nice car? Yes. If you took the current E cab and just called it a Cabriolet, do you think anyone would care?

Nah they aren't going to do that. What they will do is introduce a C Cabriolet for either 2016 or 2017 and that will be the same year that the current E-Class goes away. The next E Cab will be a true E Cabriolet, not a C/CLK type of vehicle. They can clearly do both if they use the right car C and E as a base, not just just a C for both cabrios. It has to have a model designation Tennmb, just "Cabriolet" would suggest VW and we don't want that.

It will be interesting to see whether a "bonafide" E-Class coupe/convertible based on the upcoming W213 actually come to fruition. In terms of exterior dimensions, the C217 S-Class coupe/cabriolet will not stray significantly from those of a possible future E-Class derivative. In view of the C-Class coupe/cabriolet, whichs appears to be a fait accompli, I have my suspicions regarding the niche in which E-Class 2 doors are intended to occupy. Will M-B adhere to their present strategy-E-Class sedan + station wagon + CLS/CLS Shooting Brake ?

This is indeed rather nice:

I think it is not nice. It has the same front end than the sedan, the EXACT rear of the S-Coupe, and a profile with dropping line with integrated door handles that is far from my taste.

I go 4er M.

Wow. Coupe looks not bad:

UPD: its visual proximity to S coupe i think is its asset, not liability:)

I'd say that MB's organic design works miracles with their sedans, but I doubt when it comes to the coupes. I'd prefer a much more angular design language for the C Coupe.

What are they saying about the perfect C124 coupe/cabriolet there?

M

The title says: "Back to simple beauty"
and under that: "Mercedes comes to form: The new C-Class is to appear next year as a tempting coupe, in 2016 follows the cabrio"

The rest are too small for my old arse to read :D

The translated conclusion reads thusly: :)

Conclusion
Well done Mercedes! The two doored C-Class models are even prettier than the sedan or station wagon. Besides these the lineup ranges unusually wide from the start. At Audi and BMW alarm bells should ring now. -- Georg Kacher
