CLA [Spyshots] 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLA coupe (spyshots & info)

The Mercedes-Benz CLA is a series of luxury subcompact executive cars manufactured by Mercedes-Benz since 2013. The first generation was a four-door sedan based on the platform of the W176 A-Class and W246 B-Class compact cars, marketed as a four-door coupé. In 2015, Mercedes-Benz expanded the CLA family to include a station wagon configuration which it markets as a Shooting Brake. As the V177 A-Class sedan took its place as the budget-conscious sedan, the second generation got longer and wider than the W205 C-Class.

First pictures of the new BLS!

Spy shots reveal completely new 4-door sedan/coupe, a baby CLS, based on the next-generation B-Class and due in 2013/2014

Here are the first spy shots available of the upcoming 2013 Mercedes Benz BLS - an entirely new 4-door coupe model.

The BLS will be a small, 4-door coupe, a baby CLS, but one that is front-wheel drive and based on the MFA platform shared with the upcoming next-generation A-Class and B-Class models.

The prototype we see here is dressed in a heavy camo but we can make out the basic contours of this compact sedan/coupe.

As this is basically a B-Class sedan, engine options will be shared with that sister model and include a 2.0 liter with 203 PS (149 kW / 200 bhp) and a 2.2 liter diesel with 172 PS (127 kW / 170 bhp).

BLS is a really bad name. Because, it reminds me of one of the most pointless cars ever made.

BLS,GLS,SLS,CLS,GLK,SLK,SLC.BLK, .. i think Mercedes should clean this naming mess. One letter should inform about class/size , and other about version (coupe, sport, offroad) otherwise nobody will understand this

I just hope it doesn't stray too far from the concept version. The interior must be on point also.

That will work for a FWD Mercedes. The interior is critical though, it can't be a cheapout special.

Stunning. An A5 Sportback rival. Those tail lights are brilliant and probably the most distinctive I've seen from MB in the past year or so. I smell a gold mine though I have to admit that I didn't expect to see mules this year.

i think those pictures from first post shows CLC mule

Mercedes is really going to milk this platform for all its worth to recoup what must be a huge initial investment. A 3-door hatch, 5-door hatch, B-Class breadvan, a small SUV and this...a smaller CLS. I see only the small SUV and CLS coming to the U.S. Maybe the 3-door hatch in AMG trim, maybe.

It will be called CLC

It's far too small to be an A5 Sportsback rival. The A5 is a behemoth.

The mule's proprotions look WIERD! Still I'm hoping this is a very attractive little 4 door coupe. If it is it will FLY out the door. NO ONE has yet brought coupe style with 4 door practicality to this price point. The VW CC doesn't count because its a blatant CLS rip off and barely looks like a coupe. :D

Being front wheel drive I hope the dynamics are as well resolved as they should be on a Benz. They seem to be nailing it with their rear drive vehicles, I hope we don't have to put up with a whole generational learning curve before they get this right.

BLS sounds like a sandwich. Bacon, lettuce and salami.

The Auto Bild images of the red car are just an artist's rendition commissioned by Auto Bild (though Auto Bild usually has a bit of insider information to guide the artist's design).

I have a hard time believing they would add a 4-door model that is "almost as long as the C-Class" (per Auto Bild) just around the time the all-new C-Class is due.
I think it is much more likely that what we see here is in fact an early version of the next C-Class, and that there is no "BLS" or "CLC".
