@John Galt ; you were telling us that the XT4 would be the next big thing... it ended up getting a cold response at debut (I was in attendance) and subsequently the “visionary” President Johan de Nysschen (btw a South African @martinbo) sacked before he really did anything substantive.
The XT4 is more of the same half-arsed GM luxury jobs that’s has plagued Cadillac since about 1997 starting with the ill-fated Catera (anyone remember that disaster?). I now expect more the same for this CT5, unless proven otherwise. I don’t think any Cadillac has really penetrated any non-US/Canada market.
The ATS was beating the 3 and C in sport sedan comparos, but it did not help the sales cause. It’s been another flop which will be discontinued.
I think Cadillac should stop trying to be European because they’ve been failing miserably at it. Go back to American roots that made it beloved by successful American immigrants and mobsters alike. Yeah, I know it’s not practical in modern society... it’s the enthusiast side of me talking.
Johan has left, but his shadow is still there
Cadillac Will Stick With Johan de Nysschen’s 10-Year Turnaround Plan
XT4 is a good car. And it will sell. Compare it to the Q3, Nx, GLA, X1.
Anyway, I've been always telling that JDN's real first car would be the CT5. He had some influence on the XT4, but it is not his car. What gives me confidence, except for the inside info, is the fact what he has done to the CT6. He has turned a dated and boring looking CT6 into a really good looking car. Of course, you can't change the whole car with just a facelift , but take a look.

Cadillacs will stay american. But there are some rules you have to stick with. Now you cant be a successful brand without going global. Also there are the segments , you can't make a "gangsta", old school, 5 meter yacht and put it the D-class.
