Macan [Spy Shots] Porsche Macan: Spyshots & Info

The Porsche Macan is a compact luxury crossover SUV (D-segment) produced by Porsche since 2014. It is the smaller SUV from Porsche below the Cayenne. The first-generation Macan went on production from February 2014 with petrol and diesel engine options. In 2024, Porsche released the second-generation Macan which is a battery electric vehicle built on the dedicated Premium Platform Electric (PPE) EV platform.
For now yes. Especially because of their substantial ~50% of the VW Group. In the long run Porsche will likely need to develop customize Audi and VW engines for their own use to maintain a distinct advantage over Audi cars. The last thing one would want is the Macan not being any different from a Audi Q5-S. However VAG is currently managed by the smartest men in the automotive industry and their product planning is second to none. So I doubt they'll fumble over their own egos like GM and produce line-up of cars that make no sense what so ever.

I agree and VAG's board will play this out on a fine line, Piech his Viceroy and his soldiers know better than anyone else how 'holy' the Porsche brand is and how important it is to them. And as Deckhood mentioned: "the brand which return the most profit per development."

The reason Porsche will get what Porsche wants within VAG is the component/platform sharing, it's the brand which return the most profit per development.

Most profit per car means nothing when VW makes 10 million more cars.
Porsche will not get what Porsche wants, in not too long. Assimilation has started already, with sad Audi engines in Porsche cars.

Volumes aren't everything especially if a Porsche SUV has 2-3 times the profit margin of a VW or Audi equivalent.

Klier = The Troll king. His "trick" is to accuse non-trolls of "Trolling", while by doing so, is forcing his own "troll count" to be the entire mass of his posts on this very Forum.

Every Thread that gets heated, every childish banter, every non substantiated argument is due to Klier's trolling toward other Members.

To 99% of members here that would sound like trying to provoke a reaction/argument or to put it another way.……trolling. If you have nothing constructive to say its best just to say nothing at all. :t-cheers:

I noticed that too. Don't bother trying to complain though or using the "report post" function. It's a waste of time.

Genuinely, is there not anything we can do to stop this site from going further downhill? It's beyond reasonable now what Klier gets away with. Who is ultimately responsible? I don't mean the mods as I have absolutely no faith in them and it's their lack of action on Klier which is a big part of the problem.

Is it reasonable for a thread to be created somewhere so people can voice their opinions so that these threads are not disrupted?

Here Klier is again, trying to create an argument with a completely unnecessary post. I've reported that one.

EDIT: The trolling comment from Klier in the thread which I have linked to above has now been removed. Thank you to whoever removed it but how much longer is this going to go on? Unless action and punishment is handed out to Klier then this going to keep happening.

Our spy photographers have given us our first clear glimpse at the upcoming Porsche Macan. While the test machine we see here wears some Cayenne camouflage, there's little hiding the small CUV's roof line.

Based on the Audi Q5, the Macan will boast plenty of suspension tweaks by the minds at Porsche to put the crossover more in line with the sports car maker's stable. Likewise, while the Macan will borrow a host of gasoline and diesel powerplants from the Volkswagen parts bin, each one will be tuned for more horsepower than we've seen so far.

There's also some indication that Porsche may lift the hybrid system from the Q5 into the Macan's bones, as well. That means buyers would see a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder coupled to a 44-horsepower electric motor.

Porsche may also look to offer a more athletic three-door version of the Macan later down the line to more effectively compete with the likes of the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque.

2014 Porsche Macan gets rendered

Living up to the Cajun codename
The 2014 Porsche Macan was recently snapped by our spy photographers and those photos have been used to create a production realistic rendering.
Made by Dan Buzdugan of PS-Garage, the picture shows a compact crossover with a design that is heavily influenced by the Cayenne. While most of the details closely resemble the spy photos, we can expect the turn signals will look a little different on the production model.
As we have previously reported, the Porsche Macan will go into production in late 2013. Engine options remain unconfirmed, but speculation suggests we can expect a 220 hp (164 kW / 223 PS) 2.0-liter TFSI, a 295 hp (220 kW / 299 PS) 3.6-liter V6 and possibly a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 370 hp (276 kW / 375 PS) and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque. There could also be a hybrid variant as well as two diesel engines that produce 190 hp (142 kW / 193 PS) and 250 hp (186 kW / 253 PS).

Wait, so Klier thinking Audi engines is sad (especially in the context of finding it's way into a Porsche) is trolling, but you expressing BMW is only in it for the "headlines" or going around claiming various cars are overpriced ad nauseam in every thread that mentions those cars is valid constructive opinion that everyone else needs to respect. You certainly are full of yourselves.

2014 Porsche Macan hits the Nurburgring

Development work continues on the 2014 Porsche Macan as our spy photographers have caught the crossover undergoing testing on the Nürburgring.
Heavily influenced by the Cayenne, the model features a familiar front fascia with prominent air intakes and sweptback headlights. There's also a sloping roofline, a tailgate-mounted spoiler and a four-tailpipe exhaust system.
Under the hood, we can expect a variety of different engines. Petrol options are slated to include a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 220 hp (164 kW / 223 PS), a naturally-aspirated 3.6-liter V6 with 295 hp (220 kW / 299 PS) and possibly a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 370 hp (276 kW / 375 PS) in the Macan Turbo. On the diesel side, there could be a 2.0-liter TDI with 190 hp (142 kW / 193 PS) and a 3.0-liter V6 TDI with 250 hp (186 kW / 253 PS). There's also would of a hybrid variant which would have a powertrain sourced from the Audi Q5 Hybrid.

I'm willing to bet that shortly after the SQ5 bi-tdi is officially revealed this engine too will be added to the Macan's list.

That's some nasty fit and finish on the driver side door chrome alignment. Hopefully a crude pre-production issue.

Porsche ups forecast, predicts 75,000 Macan sales in first year
The Audi Q5-based crossover will give Porsche entry into the same money-pool where compact luxury CUVs like the Range Rover Evoque and the Macan's donor Audi continue to frolic. Earlier, Porsche predicted 45,000 sales for the Macan when it goes on sale next year, but a report in Automotive NewsEurope says the sales number has been raised all the way up to 75,000.

To up the prediction for its newest model by 66 percent is a sign of massive confidence by Porsche. It's also a gamble on an overall upward trend for markets outside of Europe. Should Porsche actually hit the 75,000 unit mark, the company's global sales would benefit from a percentage gain that would seem remarkable, to say the least. Porsche sold 118,865 vehicles in 2011. Assuming the automaker could increase sales of its other product lines lines by ten percent (not an insignificant jump) both this year and next, adding 75,000 Macans to the mix would indicate a 52-percent boost to the line at the bottom that everyone loves.

It seems this car will again set the standard in its segment in regards of the interior design and finish. Simply gorgeous.
