Macan [Spy Shots] Porsche Macan: Spyshots & Info

The Porsche Macan is a compact luxury crossover SUV (D-segment) produced by Porsche since 2014. It is the smaller SUV from Porsche below the Cayenne. The first-generation Macan went on production from February 2014 with petrol and diesel engine options. In 2024, Porsche released the second-generation Macan which is a battery electric vehicle built on the dedicated Premium Platform Electric (PPE) EV platform.
So it will be based on the Q3 (Tiguan) and not on the Q5 ? The engine will not be placed longitudinatlly but transversally ?

Transverse and based on the new modular platform which I believe the Tiguan isn't. The second generation Cayenne is based on the Q5.

Here is my new render - Porsche Macan with ADV.1 Wheels

Since original sketch looks very interesting, I`ve made few adjustments and fitted ADV.1 Whels on it.

The rear lights look infinite times better than the abomination on Cayenne - which is probably the ugliest rear lights ever seen on a German car.

I don't understand what you said, but the Tiguan has a transversally mounted engine and is based on the Golf. The Cayenne (978) however is based on the Touareg, not Q5. Look you can clearly see the panel surfaces and mirrors are the same.

I am hearing that the upcoming Beijing show in late April will be the battleground for European manufacturers and their respective take on the progress of the SUV. Why China? It is BMW's largest export market for the BMW X6 Sport Activity Coupe and of course it is this concept that they are trying to capture especially in a market where these are not only profitable but in demand and sell as they say like hotcakes.

Rumors point to the Macan being a concept and given the timing to the press release - Beijing could be that show. As well as Audi rumours that a Q4 or Q6 Concept could appear as the next logical step ( Cross-Coupe concept debuted in China as did the q3 and q5.)
Mercedes could introduce something similiar as they have something up their sleeve for China.

Of course BMW will have their Macan competitor in the guise of the BMW X4 which incorporates everything that works to perfection with the BMW X6. A true Coupe roofline , excellent dynamics and image but condenses it for the Premium entry segment including a High Performance M model. And like the X6 before it you will see the X4 first as a Concept car.

Perfection and X6 aren't two words that instantly spring to my mind.

Also I will be surprised if the small Porsche ends up using a transverse engine and Haldex awd system because some of those quad piped Q5 testing havent all been Audis ;) but if true then in my opinion this is a very big THUMBS UP for the new VAG platform and the latest Haldex system.

I haven't owned one you are right about that but my brother did an X6 35d and nothing against anyone who does own and drive one but neither of us warmed to the car in the same way we both did with the previous model X5. In fact so properly pissed off was he that he broke the three year contract 8 months early at his expense to get away from driving it, took my Jag from me at that point and never looked back.

SUVs aren't for everyone but since this was his second BMW X model back to back it shows to me that it's sportier nature didn't gel quite right with our roads, it was overly bouncy and easily deflected mid-corner by bumps. Other than that it never missed a beat, was quick, economical and quiet (unlike the F30).

Every pot has it's lid. Finding the perfect match however can be a VERY expensive game:D

^ Too true. :t-cheers:

The odd thing is that both he and I still admire the car to look at. I hope it's replacement comes with adaptive suspension as an option, could make all the difference in the world.

I don't understand what you mean, but if the Macan is not like the Q5 but like the Q3, it is a very bad thing an very un-Porsche.

Porsche Macan = RR Evoque's death. Want a full spec Evoque with low miles? Wait for the little Porsche SUV and the choice of used Evoque's will be in abundance;)

Great point. I dont know what could happen that I dont pick Macan over Evoque.

Hot on the heels of Porsche official naming of the Macan baby-Cayenne SUV, we've got spy photos of the 2014 Porsche Macan testing in the Arctic.

Don't be confused by the Audi Q5 duds, this is simply Porsche's way of throwing casual observers off the trail. Porsche is testing the new SUV here alongside its big brother so expect this one to be at least partially qualified in the arts of soft roading.

After the jump we've got a close-up of the grille. Check the sensor (radar cruise, automatic braking, other driving aids) and the visible plumbing. We've yet to hear official word on what will power the Macan, but if the current trend of things continues, don't be surprised by a small turbocharged powerplant.

^ The Q5S will get the 333hp 3.0TFSI and as this engine gives a note that wouldnt go a miss in a Porsche I reckon it's the most likely choice.

If you say the Macan will may get the 3.0 TFSI V6 it means the car is not based on the Tiguan/Q3 but one the Q5 and thus has its engine mounted longitudinally.

I'd be surprised if they used the MQB platform (next gen evolution of what VW uses for Tiguan/A3/Golf/...I presume also Q3) instead of MLB (Q5/A4 and above), current or next gen... Audi treats the MLB as more premium and uses it above compact class. If Porsche is using Q5 as a mule, it would stand to reason that MLB is the basis of Macan. Either that or logic would dictate that next gen Q5 and A4/A5 lines would also be MQB based.

You must be mistaken here, it wasn't I who said the Macan would use the MQB, but I did say that if that were the case then this would be a big thumbs up from Porsche that it and Haldex have sporty credentials.
