Macan [Spy Shots] Porsche Macan: Spyshots & Info

The Porsche Macan is a compact luxury crossover SUV (D-segment) produced by Porsche since 2014. It is the smaller SUV from Porsche below the Cayenne. The first-generation Macan went on production from February 2014 with petrol and diesel engine options. In 2024, Porsche released the second-generation Macan which is a battery electric vehicle built on the dedicated Premium Platform Electric (PPE) EV platform.
Quite obviously, the Macan will be the source of impressive revenue for Porsche AG. It will enable the company to develope its' model lineup further and explore/exploit interesting niches. Porsche is becoming an increasingly formidable force in the premium/luxury market segment. The Panamera II should be absolutely desirable. The speculated sub-Panamera "Pajun" is now presumably a fait accompli. And not to forget the ever evolving cooperation with VW-Group sister Bentley. The future is appearing very bright for Porsche and its' affiliates.

No doubt. In 2012 149,853 BMW X3s while 77,822 Porsche Cayenne's were sold. I see no problem in Macan topping 100k and achieving unthinkable profit for Porsche. It's a car that will likely be in reach of many C-Class, 3er and A4 buyers so brace yourself for a Macan infestation on the roads.

Porsche Macan teaser reveals unique quad-LEDs

In truth, all-but-undisguised prototypes for the upcoming Porsche Macan compact crossover have been spotted galavanting all around the globe for some time now, but even the least-camouflaged examples have been caught wearing eyepatches covering their headlights and taillights. A dark new teaser image from Porsche clues us in to why that is – the baby Cayenne is getting unique quad-LED peepers up front.
Porsche has been hinting at lighting innovations in its production cars through recent concept reveals, including the stunning Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo showcar from last year's Paris Motor Show. The wagonized Panamera also featured four-point LED arrays up front, as well is in the rear, so it seems likely that this lighting will become a Porsche design signature going forward.
Powerpoint slides leaked from a recent dealer meeting suggest the Macan S will arrive packing a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, while the Macan Turbo will boast a 3.6-liter force-fed unit, with both models receiving seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearboxes. Pricing is expected to range from $52,000 for the S model to $75,000 for the Turbo.
The Macan is expected to debut at next month's Los Angeles Motor Show, though we wouldn't be surprised if it also shows up at the concurrent press days for the Tokyo Motor Show, as well.

:)

Will be interesting though I wish they hadn't done a copy and paste with the Cayenne's looks.

It won't be. Trust me, it will be like the Boxster vs 911 WRT styling differences. It will be a lot more angular and sharper. H.O.T!

I am very much doubting all these rumours around a 3.6 litre bi-turbo V6. Macan Turbo will have the 3.0 V6 Turbo as per Panamera S in my opinion.

It does say 3.0 V6 S on the picture. I thought the Macan was exclusively powered by 3L V6s (diesel and gas) anyway?

Porsche releases footage with 2014 Macan testing in California

Will be shown next month

Porsche has released new video footage with the 2014 Macan, this time undergoing some last-minute testing in California.
We lost count of the number of teasers Porsche developed for the Macan, a sub-Cayenne crossover set to make an appearance in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Yesterday we saw the Macan being put through its paces on Dubai sand dunes while today the car is cruising on the streets of California before embarking on an off-road adventure.
As you can see the design is heavily influenced by the larger Cayenne, yet we still can't say anything about the styling of the headlights and taillights since the cars showcased in this video have fake stickers masking the real design.
The video also shows the Macan Turbo with its two rows of LED daytime running lights and more vents at the front, along with four exhaust pipes at the rear. Under the hood of the range-topping model will probably be a V6 3.6-liter twin-turbo engine with 395 bhp (294 kW) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque.

2014 Porsche Macan leaks out early

Debuts at the Los Angeles Auto Show

The first pictures of the 2014 Porsche Macan have hit the web a little early thanks to scans from an upcoming issue of Auto Motor und Sport.
Set to be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the model will have Cayenne-inspired styling with a distinctive rear end that has a tailgate-mounted spoiler and slender taillights. The crossover will also have LED-infused headlights, a sloping roofline and curvaceous bodywork.
The cabin follows in the footsteps of the Cayenne and has a three-spoke steering wheel as well as a familiar dashboard and center console. We can also see dark trim, metallic accents and a large infotainment system.
Under the hood, two petrol engines will be available and they will have outputs of 340 HP (250 kW) and 400 HP (294 kW). Nothing is official but they are expected to be a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 and a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6.
The Porsche Macan is slated to go into production in December and the mid-level S variant is expected to cost about $52,000.

Theoretically the way Audi's MLB platform is designed, without looking at the facts one might say your statement is correct at face value. Except looking at the pictures I don't see the immediate FWD proportions. The numbers also back my visual assessment:

BMW X3 wheelbase: 2810 mm
Audi Q5 wheelbase: 2807 mm

BMW X3 length: 4648 mm
Audi Q5 length: 4629 mm

So with regards to wheelbase length they're almost identical. If you can see a 3 mm difference without a measuring tool on a car that large, I'm going on a limb and going to say you're Superman :)
In fact, the length to wheelbase ratio in this case even slightly favors the Q5, if you want to be that pedantic (with Macan supposedly a few cm longer this would not be its case however).

However it remains a 2006 platform and even if the wheelbase is as long as the BMW competitor the front overhang is longer in Audi and the Porsche compared to the BMW.
