What appears to be the underpinnings of the upcoming electric Polestar 4 sport activity crossover lurking under the stretched/widened body of a Volvo XC40.

@admin can we open a new thread for the 4?

Nah...let's be "lazy" !

My admittedly (a bit) sarcastic quip aside...I wonder how many participants a new Polestar thread would actually attract. Especially currently, when it seems that BMW and Mercedes-Benz are commanding so much attention. Hell, even the universally acclaimed Porsche Taycan ( a bloody Porsche, for crying out loud) has been attracting less and less attention. Not to mention Audi, which really appears to be "dead meat" on these forums.

Just wondering out loud...

You're right. Let's keep it together in here although my ADHD is definitely kicking in not being able to organize this properly!

I'd suggest if it's worth posting at all, and it's about a new car, it's worth creating a new thread.

As has been stated a few times, part of the reason for the much maligned Manufacturer press-release posts, is because the forum needs new content to have even a remote chance of showing up in search engine algorithms. On the one hand, we have this need as a forum, and we have people complaining about not being able to find stuff - on the other hand we have people burying worthwhile posts in irrelevant existing threads, or worse, multiple irrelevant existing threads.

Low traffic in a new thread is less of a problem. I totally get why nobody bothers when Audi send out a release about 'The new water cooler in the Hungarian sales office', or some other such rubbish, but I think it's far better for everyone if the forum's members are the ones that are posting new info, because it is more likely to be of interest to other members. The real hope is obviously that wider discussion on cars will attract new members, and perhaps broaden the conversation so it's less BMW/Mercedes-centric.

Done. Thanks!

Not cool, my friend. Not cool...

Okay, I was being a bit "Undude" (ummm..."Un-Oida") like. My bad.

And a new dedicated thread has been started...so all is once again "cool".

The Polestar 4 will be the company's fastest production car
It'll debut at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 18th.

Polestar has confirmed that its latest — and fastest production — EV, the Polestar 4, will debut at the Shanghai auto show on April 18. The new generation will join the Polestar 3 and an updated Polestar 2, with the new model's design expected to fall somewhere between the two.
The Polestar 4 is slightly smaller than the Polestar 3 and a bit higher from the ground than the Polestar 2. It’s also expected to have a battery life of about 373 miles and offer four-wheel and rear-wheel drive, according to Autocar. Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, also emphasized that it is not a modified version of its first SUV: "Instead, we reconsidered the entire design to create a new breed of SUV coupé."

The showcase news comes before the Polestar 3 has even hit the roads. The 3 should be available in the last quarter of 2023, with preorders ongoing, and the Polestar 5 is set for release sometime in 2024.

The company's first design, the Polestar 1, debuted only a few years ago in 2019, but ceased production just two years later with the company claiming the hybrid was designed as an introduction to the brand. Since then all new Polestar cars have been pure electric.

There’s no word yet on the Polestar 4's cost or availability, but with the Polestar 2 starting at $45,900 and the Polestar 3 at $85,300, it's not likely to be cheap.

This is a SUV coupe? SUV sedan? or simple a fastback
Interesting number of cars presented today by Shanghai

Good that it has a panoramic roof. Without it, the 2nd row would feel claustrophobic because of the tiny rear wind screen.

This looks pretty damn good. Probable one of the best suv coupe executions so far. Got a little Taycan, i-Pace and Model Y in there but with much nicer interior and proportions. Will be interesting to see the first drive. The Geely platform should be very good.

This looks fantastic, love the proportions. But how on earth do you see behind you there is hardly any rear window? It has a letterbox rear view probably even worst than a Lamborghini Countach. Rear view camera for sure.

Polestar 4? Toyota has something to say in Shanghai, it says exactly the same thing, this is a new segment that from what I see will be very dominant,
