The Polestar 4 is a battery electric compact luxury crossover SUV marketed by Polestar, an affiliate of Geely Holding and Volvo Cars, since 2023. The vehicle is manufactured by Geely Holding in a factory in Hangzhou Bay, China. The 4 is the third vehicle to use the rear- and all-wheel drive based platform, Sustainable Experience Architecture. The vehicle is marketed as a coupe SUV that went into production in November 2023 and has two powertrain options.
No rear window is going to be a deal breaker for some. Techie people who can't drive worth a shit to begin with will love this car. I really hope the lack of a rear window, replaced by a camera system does not become a trend. It's stupid in cases where you can clearly fit a glass window.

The lack of a rear window spoils what is otherwise another appealing design from Polestar.
I get it, but by today rear camera systems that‘s not an issue anymore.

The tiny rear view mirror is an obsolete thing having such big screens and rear cameras with self cleaning feature IMO.

It’s not about the view out back. It’s that the rear without a window looks cheap and unfinished. And it’s got nothing in common with an 812C’s rear - that’s for sure.

I don’t think so. It looks unique and sporty IMO.
Even without rearwindow the back looks better than Frankenstein SUV coupes from Germany.

I agree with @Centurion, a detail but it gives supercar vibes. The 812 is a great reference. Nothing wrong abt it.

This looks fantastic, love the proportions. But how on earth do you see behind you there is hardly any rear window? It has a letterbox rear view probably even worst than a Lamborghini Countach. Rear view camera for sure.

That no rear window part is just way too radical.
Truly don't understand why they have to overcomplicate things for the sake of it! F'ing camera's and added screens for basic stuff. It's backwards!

I feel the same, but also think there is a chance it could be an acclimatization thing cause we are so used to rear windows.

It's backwards like I said. Stupid design for the sake of standing out and overcomplicating things. Polestar is part of Volvo and Volvo is supposed to be the safest brand, so I don't understand why they want to make their cars less safe. Because less safe is what it is when you miss an entire window.

For the rest it's a very solid looking thing. No doubt it'll be a huge success here in the EU.

It’s not about the view out back.

I think it is. It's dangerous and unsafe.

I think so too. Not only for the driver of the car itself but also for the driver behind the polestar. I always check what the driver in front of me is doing (using the phone or being otherwise distracted). That's impossible with the 4.

And you can see the third brake light of the car in front of this car, when you need an emergency braking.

Counter point... more sheet metal, more energy dissipation in the event of a crash, and less chance of glass making its way into the rear seat area.

But it does nothing beneficial for the design IMHO.

As the driver of a normal saloon car, many modern cross overs and SUV's also cause this problem... the answer in all cases, is to leave sufficient distance between you and the car in front to be able to react to unseen obstacles.

Theory can not bring you back to life. The more safety the better.

If you need to be able to see the car in front of the car in front, in order to not hit the car in front, then you objectively can't stop if the car in front has to jam on the brakes for his own reasons.

Seriously, leaving a bigger gap to the car in front isn't "theory", you just momentarily ease your right foot up a bit for moment, job done - increased visibility, more available reaction time and braking distance - safer. The more safety the better.

Since this is more of an everyday car, the lack of a rear window is a bit of deal-breaker, and that's despite that Polestar's design are some of my favorite EV designs out there. I can make sense of the 812C's lack of a rear windshield because a) it's not a daily-driver, b) it's a Ferrari, c) it's a rare, special edition Ferrari, and d) high-revving V12.
