C-Class [Spy shots] Mercedes-Benz AMG GT (C190)

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a series of compact executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz Group AG. Introduced in 1993 as a replacement for the 190 (W201) range, the C-Class was the smallest model in the marque's line-up until the W168 A-Class arrived in 1997.

how many do you think it´s goint to stay here?

maybe the original gives some hints? ;)

The Mercedes-Benz 300SL was introduced in 1954 as a two-seat, closed sports car with distinctive gull-wing doors. Later it was offered as an open roadster. It was the fastest production car of its day.

Built by Daimler-Benz AG and internally numbered W198, the fuel-injected road version was based (somewhat loosely) on the company's highly successful competition-only sports car of 1952, the somewhat less powerful carbureted Mercedes-Benz 300SL (W194).

The road model was suggested by Max Hoffman. Being intended for customers in the booming post-war American market it was introduced at the 1954 New York Auto Show, unlike previous models introduced at either the Frankfurt or Geneva shows. In Mercedes-Benz fashion, the "300" referred to the engine's three litre cylinder displacement. The "SL" stood for "Sport Leicht" (Sport Light).

The 300SL was best known for both its distinctive gull wing doors and being the first-ever four-stroke car equipped with a Gasoline direct injection. The gull wing version was available from March 1955 to 1957. Production of the roadster ended in 1963 with the introduction of the 230SL.

Mercedes SLC Info
:t-cheers:

Seems as if the Benz guys gets everything they wish for....Ahmmm BMW are you listening?

SLC is a great idea... a nimbler, lighter alternative to the big SLS, it will easily compete well with the 911. But I hope the looks aren't so baby SLS-like, I'm sure that will turn away many buyers.

I just about to say that. This sports car should look completely different from the SLS, not just a variation of the same theme. The SLK, SLS and no doubt the next SL will all look similar. The SLC is Mercedes' chance to do something different.

Don´t give this much credibility, as it comes from a forumer of CSS, but I´ve already read rumour of an extreme new SLR, powered by a 5.0 TT V8 with between 700 and 800 PS.

New details are emerging on the upcoming Mercedes-Benz 'baby SLS'.

This time German car magazine Auto Bild is reporting that the so-called SLC will sport up to 500 PS (368 kW / 493 bhp) and be positioned as an arch-rival to the Porsche 911.

For reasons of cost, the SLC would lose the gullwing doors of the larger SLS AMG model, and an entry-level model with around 350 PS (257 kW / 345 bhp) will cost less than €100,000.

Auto Bild says there are two scenarios for the SLC - one is an introduction of its own in 2014. The other is that the model becomes a successor to the SLS and replaces it in 2016.

Rumors are all over the place now. I don't see the SLC or whatever it will be called, replacing the SLS. I do think Mercedes wants a true 911 competitor so something will happen, most likely with that turbo V6 we've heard so much (and little) about. With optional V8 power I'd suspect.

What about the SLS being replaced by two models?. Being the SLC a bit under the SLS price tag with up to 500 PS, and the SLR, competing with the Aventador, Enzo II, and 918.

Would really love to see that.

500-HP Mercedes SLC To Launch In 2014: Report

Whispers about a sub-SLS Mercedes-Benz sports coupe codenamed SLS have been growing louder recently. A few weeks ago, Autocar reported that the car would be aimed at the likes of the Porsche 911 and Aston Martin V8 Vantage and would use an AMG V-8 to get it right in line. A new Auto Bild report supports the concept of a 911 fighter, but suggests that the SLC may use a twin-turbo V-6 instead.

According to the report, the SLC would be offered in several tunes starting at 350 horsepower and working up to 500 horsepower. Pricing would start at EUR 100,000, which is in line with the prices being speculated last month. That price would also make it competitive with the 911, which currently bases at around 85,000 euros, a price that's certain to rise when Porsche introduces the all-new 2012 911 later this year.

Mercedes will attempt to keep both the weight and price low by cutting out the SLS' gullwing doors, a defining feature of Merc's supercar. Mercedes will also pump plenty of aluminum and possibly carbon fiber into the SLC to get it as trim as possible.

It's possible that Mercedes will offer two engine options. Last months reports seemed pretty certain that the coupe would have V-8 power, likely by way of AMG's 420-hp 5.5-liter V-8. The base 350-horsepower model could use the twin-turbo V-6, perhaps a turbocharged version of the SLK's 3.5-liter V-6, with the V-8 reserved for the top-end 500-horsepower version. The last car to sport the SLC name, which was retired 30 years ago, was primarily V-8-based, though there was an I-6 option in Europe.

Mercedes hasn't set a launch date yet, but it could be as soon as 2014.

Though the details are still fuzzy, it's clear that Mercedes has another hot sports car on the way.

Hi,

just one thing: rumors about a SL"C" are as old as Methuselah. First they thought, that the SLS will be the SLC (funny the first pic in this thread with the number plate "PR 197", wich is an original SLS number plate)
In my opinion, it will be extremley difficult to place a new model "below" the SLS. There will be the AMG SLK, the upcoming SL, there already is the C63 Coupe + the SLS, all cars with 450+hp.

When i look at the last renderings, i only see an SLS without gullwings... what for?

What will be the price range? Starting at 100K Euros with 350hp? This is ridiculous, you will be outperformed by every C Amg. Merc wants to sell cars, they are not Aston or Porsche. So they need to have a far more special design than shown on any pic i have seen yet or spend much more horsepower.
But a 100+K Euro car with only 350hp that looks like a SLS for people who can not afford a real SLS, no, they will sell less than the SLS.

Anyway, i would like to see a Merc that has the 911 and Aston V8 benefits: affordable, fast AND good for daily use (what is definitvley not an attribute of the SLS ;) )

So please, proof me and my pessimism wrong!!!!!!

BTW In the AMG PL nobody has heard about an upcoming SLC, usually there are well informed people there (or i just missed the thread :D )
