M3/M4 [Spy Shots] BMW M3 & M4 (G80/G82/G83)

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

The car was designed to meet the needs of the European customers and the American ones in the same time.

I did not know that !

I had always thought that the Edsel was focused solely on the North American market and that it was FoMoCos' reply to the multibrand cultures prevailing at GM (U.S) (6 brands including GMC) and Chrysler Corp.(U.S.) (5 brands). Prior to the Edsel, FoMoCo had only 3 U.S. brands.

That leaked photograph made me angry.
Not because it revealed the original look of the car. No something much more.
THE FACT THAT THOSE IDIOTS BLOCKED THE STAIRWELL!!!
THAT IS A HUGE DISREGARD FOR HEALTH &SAFETY!!!!:D

According to the ///M boss the M3/4 will come to the market in 2021 so still a long way out. My guess is that they are want to release the 4 series first next year let us get used to the looks then launch the M3/4 at the same time.

Doesn’t production of the current M4 end in July next year?

Some user on a german forum wrote, that the reason, that the grille leak picture has been removed widely from the web is the following:
BMW had identified the person taking the picture and is now going to sue him. Then in turn he - no need to be anonymous anymore - forced the websites to remove the photo ...
Hmm. (n)

No one was forced. Some removed it out of courtesy for both parties. There are still plenty of photos on Instagram and everywhere else.

The colour options for the G80
  • Some G80 details:

Colors: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Dravit Grey, Portimao Blue, Tanzanite Blue, Isle of Man Green, Sao Paolo Yellow, Toronto Red.

Interiors: black, orange/black, blue/black (merino leather, partial or full).

The M specific sport seats will be standard, but there will also be optional Aggressive CF bucket seats (seen above) - I remember that these were rumoured for the F80/82 finally here.

Speaking of carbon fiber, there'll be much more CF trim available without the need to go to the performance catalog.

These are the two new colors for the M3 G80 (the others are already known from other models): Photos taken directly from the BMW Individual Configurator, here for an F80 M3

There is also a new Grey coming up (C4P), as well as 4 new frozen colours, but I don't know, for which model they are, or how they are going to be called.
If there is interest to see them, also on different models (M3,M4,M5,M8 or 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series) or different specifications (nearly everything is possible), I could start a new Color thread. Currently I have 213 different official BMW colors available for the M3:)

Apart from the i models (i4, iNext = ix8?), the next 7er is said to be getting a yuuge vertical grille of which the current 7er LCI is but a timid auspice.

Yes. The upcoming kidney grilles will still have slats that open and close but instead of letting in air. They will open to another dimension or parallel universe.:eek::D

I am not crazy about yellows, but BMW does some good yellows. That Sao Paolo Yellow is second only to Austin Yellow.

The new M4 looks flat and low, maybe even more so than the M2 CS next to it. Excellent.

Yep. Indeed. Whereby the dark cabrio fabric roof adds to this impression as it fades with the dark background and makes it look even lower ...

Yes, indeed. From a silhouette perspective, I expect it to be every bit as svelte as the outgoing 4er. Pity about what's to come: from kidneys to nostrils.

Fire breathing nostrils. It will probably be the meanest looking thing on the roads.

The leaked pic still looks like crap. Which is a crime given how great the Alpina looks. This car just needed a mlre aggresive front bumper and that's about it.

The vertical kidneys is one of the most dreadful design ideas from BMW. I can only imagine it looking good in the next 2er (in the case their size is similar to the CSL hommage).

Remember though that all you have seen is a tiny corner angled leaked image of a vehicle in production. Although you have an idea of what it looks like? you have not seen the full bodywork surrounding the grille.

Have a little patience as @SCOTT27 says, do not rely on a leak that barely reveals a piece of the front to say that it is ugly, wait to see the full bodywork and discover that not only the front is ugly but the whole car. :D

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
