M3/M4 [Spy Shots] BMW M3 & M4 (G80/G82/G83)

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

You all really believe that pic?

I believe it's real but it's perspective is distorted and the high contrast hides details that will no doubt make a difference.

The production line photo of the grey car still gives us a better indication of its looks in general, but this shot shows us somewhat how they will handle the M car lower bumper.

I'm already over the size of the grilles, how well they integrate them is another matter. They looked good on the concept, but we know how much that counts for.

The picture is in black & white but I would guess this is the M4 Coupe in São Paulo Yellow which was recently shown at a North American dealer showing.
If these images are from this event? Then no phones, cameras and an NDA had to be signed.
Comparisons to that 2002 event of the then new 6er E63/E64 were photographed and leaked to the press leaving one US dealer without a BMW Franchise.

Since this is the appearance of the new M3/M4.
If we use the Kübler-Ross model I guess you are at stage 1...denial? :D

Perhaps something a little more like this...

Yeah, well, BMW hasn't been particularly good at hiding things until launch date, have they? People are screaming and shouting at the looks of it but in a few months after release they'll get used to it and finally buy one.

Now that looks digestible.

Really wish they connected the headlights to the kidneys (or nostrils now...).

Why have they already disfigured the barely fresh bold iconic new front fascia identity of the 4er?!

Whereas the 4er's headlights connect to the grille's corners via a clearly visible crease which creates a slightly shaded area that gives the front fascia a focused/frowned/mean prey bird look that fully makes up for any potential awkwardness related to the vertical grille novelty, that same headlight-to-grille area on the M3/M4 is as flat and smooth as an extreme leftist's brain surface and produces a dull boring 80s-90s generic Japanese sedan gaze, that's further enhanced by the empty borderless jutting out grille that looks like an organ has just been ripped out. This is utterly appalling.

How utterly weird... I had just about convinced myself that I would absolutely HATE BMWs' new grill theme. And now...I'm actually starting to...well...appreciate it.

Far out, crazy shit, man.

Apart from the obvious grills I don’t like the particular shape of those headlights.[/QUO...

For what it's worth, this is probably the worst picture taken by anyone in 2020 so far. It lacks any kind of depth, for one. It's completely oversaturated in light. It almost looks like a piece of paper with some outlines drawn onto it.

It’s been done to hide the photographer and the location. I expect the original negative to be clear as day.
Someone needs to call themselves Nina for the day.
It’s what she would have wanted.:D

I hear you all ... but I'm still convinced (even if the M4 pic is of worst possible quality) that the front facia of the leaked (blue) regular 4er looks much better than the M4 front! This is a NoGo. This must not be!

Reading in other forums how opinions and perception changed when these two realistic renders appeared seemed a bit funny but at the same time obvious, they went from 90% booing against the grill and other details, to 85% of shy approval

Damn.... so much presence! I’m excited again! This looks great, front and rear.

I'm overall very excited for the new beaver snout grille. I can't wait to see what they're going to do with the next 7er.

If you want the understated and reserved look, THE X4M and X3M is the way to go.

If you want in your face aggression, these will be the cars for you.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
