M3/M4 Spy Shots: BMW M-pack to get M3-style bonnet?

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

Critics of BMW’s M Sport Packages often lay claim that the accessories range makes the standard models on which they are applied too similar to the actual M cars. A 3-series Convertible has now been spotted with a M Sport Package bodykit and a new M3-style vented bonnet, suggesting that the visual difference between the standard 3-series and M3 is about to get even harder to define.

The basic M Sport Package for the 3-series comprises an aggressive front bumper with gaping intakes, unique side skirts and new rear bumper. The addition of the M3-style vented bonnet suggests that this could potentially be a test car for BMW’s Performance Parts range for the 3-series. Furthermore, the bonnet pictured here is not identical to the one on the M3. This one has a third vent in place of the M3’s distinct bonnet bulge.
BMW first launched its range of factory-backed performance accessories
in September last year. Designed initially for the 3-series and Z4 models, the new range included a host of performance upgrades such as engine power kits, suspension and exhaust mods and even interior styling changes.
More serious upgrades borrowed from the M3 could make their way into the 3-series Performance Parts catalog. Rumored to be in the works is a limited slip differential designed for dual-clutch transmission models as well as a more powerful version of the 3.0L twin-turbo.

maybe some sort of hyprid 3 series ?
an extra bonnet would actually make the M-Kit alot more expensive then it is now. those taped vents seem to me to be fake

I bet it'll be the one as found in the F01 740i :usa7uh:

R6 24V twin turbo, 2979, 326 hp @ 5800, 450 Nm @ 1500-4500

Would be sweet for 1er coupe too....just don't try to name it 140i :t-hands: sounds really weird imo. As if the car has a V8.

1 series with 326 hp, 450 nm and some nice parts from the performance programm should be sweet. :D

I love the M-package for BMW, looks great for only a little bit more but it takes the specialness (if you won to call it that) away from the real M cars E.g the M-package for the 5-series looks identical to the M5 but still I'd have it on my BMW (look fantastic:D)

Or ... they are just testing the 3er-specific cooling for up-tuned N54 engine. :usa7uh:

This needs to make its way into a performance 1series. I dont know where that 326hp figure came from. I'm praying for 350. :) Knowing BMW they'll be healthy well fed ponies(underrated).

I don't really think the M-package does take the specialness away from M cars... If you have say a E92 M-sport standing on its own, it may be mistaken for an M3 yes, but stand it next to an M3, you can instantly see the greater visual impact.. same goes with the M5 in my opinion.

Yes, it might. IMO M-kits and AMG-kits are way too expensive these days already.

Giving the N54 a power upgrade on the 7er kinda makes sense since its such a bulky car, but on the 3 series/1 series, thats just crazy! The 335/135 are already devastatingly close to the M3 in straight line performance... besdies, as it is, the 335/135 dont even have any competition. I dont think a power boost so early is such a good idea, especially not for the M3.

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
