These are my personal opinions and observations on the recent prototypes of the Life Cycle Impulse G60, G61, G90 and G99. Regarding the revised headlight and kidney grille designs.
I have spent a few days trying to find out if this kidney grille panel that sits in between the left and right Neue Klasse-inspired headlights has something to do with the actual re-edited facelift on these recent test vehicles.
As when I looked at the kidney grille panels that covered and concealed the substantial details underneath. I noticed that there is a gap that is hidden behind a grille pillar (I have highlighted a pillar in light blue color) where it shows a connection between the headlight and grille pieces on both regular 5 Series and flagship M5 faces (highlighted in dark blue color for the connected lines between the headlight and grille).
Now, this is a crucial part of this post because I honestly think that the headlight unit and grille are still being seamlessly integrated and united on each left and right side. Identical to those early L.C.I. prototypes, but with some minor touches and mini re-profiling on the latest version. For instance, the leaner headlights and grilled silhouettes.
Meanwhile, the kidney grille panels that are being installed on the reworked prototypes are there to create confusion, distraction and illusion from the substantive elements underneath the camouflaged parts. This is to play a trick on the audiences to make them believe that BMW might be returning to the original pre-facelift kidney grille structure and swiftly abandoning the slimmer grille of the Vision Neue Klasse concept.
So, I personally think the Neue Klasse design philosophy will be continuing and spreading across the re-profiled G60, G61, G90 and G99 L.C.I. families, even though their headlights and grilles are being altered to a certain extent. BMW is playing a trick on us by inserting the fake grille panels to cause some discussions here and there before they are unveiled in 2027.
