5 Series (G60) [Spy Shots] BMW G60 5 Series LCI

The BMW G60 is the eighth generation of the 5 Series. Revealed on May 24, 2023, it commenced production in the summer of 2023 at BMW's Dingolfing Plant, with first deliveries beginning around October 2023. Body styles: 4-door sedan/saloon (G60), 5-door wagon/estate (G61), and 4-door long-wheelbase saloon (G68).
There is no need to desperately try to criticize the 5 series. In fact, it is necessary to try to make it look good. I will give my definitive opinion about the CLA in the evening.

It's more Leylandi than 'people', you see, people said bad things about a Mercedes (the CLA), so in full propaganda mode Leylandi has turned to deflection in the CLA thread (what about the 2GC though!!1z!), diversion in this thread (5 series bad, seeee LCI proves it!!!11!), and Idolisation in the E-Class thread (something about respecting a mini-cab or something). It's fairly predictable behavior.
Well, nobody cares about his opinion anyways. He loves to make fun of everything Bimmer related, giving laughing emoji reactions under every post just to make people “mad” in his own way I assume. It’s funny because when something new drops about the brand, he’s the first one to post about it here. I couldn’t find a way to block him so keeping his profile ignored is the best way for me 🤣. Such a lame and childish behavior.

This is such an uninformed comment to make. Others have already said when this FL should debut, which is nothing weird in terms of timings. BMW is changing its design language and trying to implement it on the existing cars. MB is doing just the same with the S-Class. Is the design of that car a failure too?

E-Class FL not being tested can be explained by the fact that MB is launching an all new model which is fully electric. And isn’t that the biggest failure? Having an EV on sale which both fugly and outdated tech-wise (EQE), and releasing a classic sedan that cannot be electrified (W214), which forces MB to launch a third model.

Cheers!

Not to detract from the meta point you're trying to make, but this isn't accurate. The W214 E-class is getting a facelift at a time that will also see the introduction of the electric E-class. Calling it a failure that Mercedes decided not to go the convergence platform route and instead have ICE/Hybrid and EV models in parallel is bizarre. BMW is effectively doing the same with the NK vehicles are they not? X3 and iX3 and so on? The only thing rational here is calling the EQE a failure because that's just the truth.

But anyways, all of this talk being brought on by the CLA's introduction is unnecessary indeed.

The G60/61 LCI bringing the 5er far more "visually in line" with the upcoming NKL 3er is a good move IMHO. A higher degree of visual homogeneity between model lines can be a highly redeeming attribute for manufacturers. And this need not equate to "cookie cutter" design. Especially when designs appear as promising as that of the NKL sedans and the significant improvement of the G60/61. IMHO, we may be on the threshold of an impressive renaissance of a homogenic conceptual design paradigm last seen with the F01/F10/F12-13-06 cars. One of my favorite eras of BMW design.

Now, getting the G71 "in line" would be great. Although here in the EU, that segment is no longer very relevant.

It's been on sale since 2023. It's 2025 now and the facelift is due for launch in 2026 or 2027 as a "MY27"

That means the 5er was out for 3 years and got a facelift for the 4th year.. what's the problem here? This is a normal product life cycle.
Correct. The average owner won't even know that the LCI is currently tested or will look drastically different. By the time the first leases expire after 3 years, LCI deliveries will commence.

A car that will be released at the end of 2023 is being tested with its facelifted form 1 year later. BMW has clearly proven its failure. The neue klasse front end will also look very bad. They are on the wrong track.
May 2023.

I am truly ready to go back to E32/E34 or E38/E39 style similarities throughout the range!
Bring back the same sausage different size Bimmers when the design base is clean and wonderful like NK is.

Nah E34 and E60 The radical twins.

Absolutely.

Using the NKL 3er as a highly accurate design template for future 5er and 7er model lines would be simply splendid. For me, that would mean: "BMW IS BACK !!". It is starting to appear that BMW is on the threshold of becoming my favourite German brand. Once again, after quite a long while.

I think these design changes will significantly benefit the 5-Series.
It already looks like a vast improvement in slowly taking the 5 back to its sporty nature.
