M3/M4 Spy Shots: BMW flings M3 pickup around the 'Ring

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

Not happening, guys, not happening.

UPDATE: And...product planner-to-the-car-stars Jim Hall tells us it's a one-off parts hauler for ZTechnik or another BMW motorcycle accessory builder that's used just around the compound. As for camouflage, Hall said: ""Camouflage means nothing. BMW puts camouflage on anything and everything. Look at that BMW Vision Connected concept. That has camouflage and they're obviously not building that."

Next time I visit Germany I will get myself a rental from with plates from Stuttgart, Munich or Inglostat. Then, psychedelic vinyl stickers will be placed all over shoulder lines, bumpers and third windows. The final touches will be an IBM think pad placed on the front passenger seat and a fleece blanket over the dash, and voila! I will look like a test driver and gets plenty of online press.

Before you start .
It is for Private use , BMW are not making an M Pick-up Truck.
It follows on from the other generations of M3 Pick-ups that are used for other purposes.

Local BMW dealer told me that it will be out 4Q this year and it will be shown officially at the NYC autoshow next month. Base priced is rumored to be like 90K depending on the type of bed. Dealer got advanced info packet indicating a carbon fiber bed is an option.

needs CF roof

And a carbon-fiber shell and tailgate....all, of course, in the name of Efficient Dynamics.

Look I know BMW is trying to fill every and any niche possible, but this is ridiculous. Let me guess, it's called something to the effect of [I/]Personal Progressive Transporter.[/I] :D (Alas, I was trying to do something where the acronym would be P.O.O., I'll leave that to someone with a more cultured lexicon)

On first sight without reading, I threw up in my mouth a little when I saw the pics. It's just soooooooo wrong.

I can't even tell if you're kidding or being serious, LOL

I know NASCAR ain't the most technically advance form of motorsport, but if there's one thing I've learnt from its 'trucks' series, it's that this thing will seriously needs some downforce in the rear!!

Optional Equipment: CF tailgate, CF carbo bed, CF roll hoop, bed tool box (leather wrapped), realr split window, CF brakes for rear axle only, option bed-scale to detect unauthorized (too heavy) cargo, towing/trailer biased stability control, M-cargo bed cover.

Load Capacity: 1200 LBS
Towing Max: 500 LBS (not recomended)

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
