arent we already? we go to a restaurant and look our smartphones, we walk on the street and check our mails, we stay in the metro and listen to our music via earphones.

it all started when daddy wanted to read the newas at the breakfast-table.
this is just the evolution.

and btw we are talking about the upper-class-chauffeur limos, where mostly the guests are driven and they really dont wanna share much whith the driver... not to mention talking.

thats the way it goes :(

I don't see too many posesors of a 7er that have a chaffeuer instead of driving by themselves their car. Wasn't BMWs motto: "Sheer driving pleasure" ?

@silkeye Thank god this don´t reach me. When it´s time to eat or to talk the phone is in the pocket. The only excuse is when I play some games with my brothers and sisters or I want to show some news them.

BUT let´s go back to topic.

It is long time to go until the new 7er will appear in his full glory but i hope very much that BMW decide to build the Concept CS allready!

We should see this car at the end of 2014, just as SCOTT said, instead of waiting the full 7 years to after the F01 debut back on early summer 2008.

That means the difference in time between the S-Class and the 7er will be less than 2 years now, like 20 months or so. Much less than the 3 years between the W221 S-Class (Summer 2005) and F01 (Summer 2008).

You think you can give BMW some ideas? I'm not saying you can't, but this is not a new idea for BMW. There are some factors that have to be considered and that can also hinder the implementation of such technology. On one side it has to be available and on the other side it has to be proven. Anyway both BMW and Mercedes have been looking at this many years ago. If not I think you missed the BMW Connected Drive Vision.

The Vision ConnectedDrive concept showcased applications of in car connectivity and aided developments within driving and vehicle safety.
The first car to purely benefit from some examples of this is the Rolls-Royce Wraith with its satellite aided transmission. But the first BMWs to stretch the implementation of connectivity for active use will be the BMW i3 and BMW i8.
The flagship 7er will launch with several innovations some featured on the connectivity aspect but other driving aids that are satellite aided. As safety is paramount some methods of connectivity such as navigation and entertainment can be set by the passenger and wiped into the drivers HUD and instrument panel allowing the driver to not remove his hands from the wheel.

Is there any news regarding the 8 Series?

^^ there is not really a difference is there??
Still it's more like a mule than a prototype imo. Testing the G11 through F01.
I guess there's not much of difference. I really think it's the G11 body fitted with F01 parts versus an actual F01 just testing G11 internals. BMW Group is very clever at disguising their prototypes.

Pretty much a condensed version of what I already said before. It is coming within 20-21 months by late 2014, since especially how it started testing last month as opposed to the autumn of this year. SCOTT27 just made it more concrete and factual, than the ignorant journalists' assumptions of late 2015/2016. I don't expect a response of course.

BMW has other priorities, like the X7, and all the other X models, the FWD models, the i range, not to forget the M1 successor, but that is more the task of BMW M GmbH.

The next BMW 7 Series (G11) was caught in February for the first time winter testing

in Scandinavia. Here we have the first spy shots of the next generation BMW 7 Series

spied in Germany. The 7 Series prototype was caught near BMW’s technical centre in

Munich where it was being loaded into a truck. The prototype wears lot of

camouflage and has temporary lights. Compared to the current model, the front door

looks shorter, while the rear door is much longer. The new 7 Series is expected to

arrive in late 2014 or in early 2015.

From looking at these photos, it is obvious this a SWB variant despite the abilities of the article's author to notice that. Somehow the interior already looks a little different to me, especially the driver's seat.

Now just look at sleek and sexy in the background:cool:

spy shows the LWB and it does look longer than the F02 (ok, wild guess but it does)

Do you mean the new photos from G Motors or the other ones further up? I thought this looks a bit shorter than the earlier prototypes. I wonder if anything will get leaked in the next 6 months, as unfortunately nothing ever slips from BMW regarding upcoming 7ers. I guess we'll be waiting until November 2014-February 2015 to see anything significant.

^
Yes, those from G motors, I may be day dreaming but the mule looks long(er) there.

BMW rear door looks giant, w222 are much better;)

How can you compare a camouflaged car to a fully revealed one?

I fully agree with Scott, which is a rare thing. You just can't compare those two photos, one of a heavily camouflaged car, to a fully exposed S-Class. If you had a photo of the S-Class equally camouflaged, with the now blacked-out B-Pillar covered by the same swirly and headache-causing camouflage tape, the S would look equally bad.

To be fair the W222 is the short wheelbase version and the G11 is the long wheelbase. So that explains the giant rear door.

I also like the S class paint job better, the one on BMW with all those scribble marks looks horrible. And don't get me started on the headlights...
I am sure that BMW will not offer swirl camouflage not even as BMW Individual finish , headlights are not a priority at this time.
There is far too much important stuff happening ahead of details.

Well, to be fair, when one compares a test car covered in camouflage to a finished one I think it is pretty fair to assume being fair is not exactly on top of their agenda.

Well, either you missed my sarcasm or I am missing yours right now...:cautious:
