7 Series [Spy shots] BMW 7er (G11) Spy Pics & Info

The BMW 7 Series is a full-size luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by the German automaker BMW since 1977. It is the successor to the BMW E3 "New Six" sedan. The 7 Series is BMW's flagship car and is only available in a sedan bodystyle (including long wheelbase and limousine models). It traditionally introduces technologies and exterior design themes before other models in BMW's lineup.

Boom! Now this is a nice Xmas present from BMW.

(On the side note, I don't like they went chrome-laden in the interior, a-la Mercedes; exterior is indeed vanilla. Excellent vanilla. But still vanilla. But still excellent.(y))

what a great leak, just in time for the new year :)

i like the overall design, but i have to agree with other members here, the the headlights design is not sitting well with me, but I'll reserve my final judgment when i see the car in person though.
the interior on the other hand is lovely. i like the combination of colors and i have always had a soft spot for matte finish wood especially in the 7 series.

i just wish i could buy an S class with BMW exterior colors.. :p

It's nice, but I am, right now, with EnI and underwhelmed. There are some elements that don't sit well with me, but I'll offer up my words later. I don't want to rain on the parade.

To be honest, I'm completely underwhelmed. I don't really like the exterior at all- too bland for me although it does look expensive. The visual height of the trunk lid is interesting touch. The interior looks really nice but more 5-series nice than 7-series nice, much like the current generation. I just thought BMW would go further with this model.

I look forward to more pics to see if my opinion changes. I'm sure these pics aren't doing it justice.

Thank you for this surprise. I like the exterior and the interior. Both looks stunning for me. Maybe the headlights could have more of the VFL headlights. The interior looks at the pic very upscale. I'm excited to see the car in real life. But I'm sure it will not be a disappointment. (y)

IMHO, yes.

Let's keep this thread G11 only, and leave the combustion for when the car actually arrives, and more details are known.

I don´t know if the changes to the side profile are for the better. They basically removed the double hoff-kink, make the shoulder line softer when it meets the rearlights, remove the lower crease and change it for a thick chrome bar.

OK. I have issues with latest BMW styling / design language. Van Hooydonk & Habib constantly talk about "Precision in poetry" (WTF?!? ... I guess it's an equivalent to Bangle's "Controlled tension") but I hardly see any poetry in the latest designs, not to mention the precision which supposedly represents the "simple & sharp lines" on the body. The designs are full of details which seem very random and poorly integrated into overall styling. And all the elements seem to chunky. Actually lacking precision. Poetry - supposedly representing emotional panel styling (ala "flame surfacing" - positive / negative panels ... play of shadows & light etc etc) - is also less convincing as in Bangle era with definitely more dramatic flame surfacing. I'm lost. Completely.

Waiting for more and better pics is going to be hell :D :(

No, they were talking about their lovely concept vehicles :D

Exterior is bit boring in my view for a flagship BMW design..The rear reminds me ofLexus and the 5GT.Interior is nice but I think would suite a 5 series not a 7...anyways nice leak.

It's still New Year's Eve over here...but damn, those pics are making me .

I know the lighting and trim (blacked out wheels) aren't the best, but it definitely is vanilla.

Ironically the G30 5er features much more interesting styling elements - although still being conservative & following the same styling theme as seen on G11 7er.

Exterior is meh. I knew the car was going to be soft from the spy shots, but was hoping at least for some sharp headlight lines like the the VFL instead of the soft pudgy curves. Interior is very nice, but I wish they didn't feel compelled to put a silver coating on everything like the S-class. I guess that has become the de rigueur for luxury now - plastic with silver coating - thanks to the bling crowd.
