Camaro [Spy Shots] 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Spied

Interior, interior, interior, interior, interior......that is what GM needs to focus on for this car. I know the exterior will be hot, we know what the engines will be, but they gotta throw out the junk-grade interior of the current car.

Personally, I never expect this a lot out of American cars especially on such a muscle car.

Well, folks, this is it, the 2016 Chevy Camaro. It’s a dark, profile-only view, but it does reveal the shape of the car, as well as a handful of key details.

The Camaro’s profile was revealed as part of a slide show during the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox presentation at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show.

DON'T MISS: 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Spy Shots

Of course, we’ve already seen the car testing in spy shots and spy video, and we’ve even seen the car’s headlights on eBay. But this is the most clearcut look at the car to date, and while it’s certainly not revolutionary, it’s inviting.

Expected to arrive in the second half of 2015, the 2016 Camaro will wear a very similar, but completely updated, exterior and interior look. It’s under the skin where the major changes are happening: the new Camaro will use the Alpha platform, also used in the Cadillac ATS and CTS. This stiffer, lighter platform should improve the Camaro’s overall handling significantly.

A four-cylinder turbocharged engine option is also likely for the 2016 Camaro, and not just to compete with the 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost four-cylinder. With less weight to haul around, the four-cylinder should be both peppy and relatively efficient. Expected output is around 272 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque—again, an engine already offered in the ATS and CTS.

Of course, V-6 and V-8 engines will also be on tap. Look for a possible debut of the new Camaro at the New York Auto Show in just under two months.

Something tells me this is going to be one hell of a performer!)

2016 Chevrolet Camaro to debut on May 16th.

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is so close, you can almost hear it. In fact, you can.

Chevy announced today that the sixth-generation sports car will be introduced at an event on Detroit’s Belle Isle on May 16th.
Few official details about the car have been released, but it’s widely expected to be smaller and lighter than the current edition, and offer a turbocharged 4-cylinder turbocharged engine option, along with the 6.2-liter LS3 V8 featured in the Corvette Stingray. Spy and teaser videos of the car undergoing track testing indicate it will sport a familiar, but updated style.

The Detroit debut is geared towards the car’s biggest fans and will have a collection of some of the best models from its half-century history on display, members of the sixth-gen development team on hand, plus a Camaro-only parking lot for owners.

If you’d like to attend, you can RSVP at thecamarosix.com, where you can also download a ringtone of the car’s engine at full boil, or just listen to it on YouTube until May.

Will it be a completely new vehicle or is it a heavily face lift version of the existing car?

Though the style looks evolutionary it is said to be a new car. (the interior is also said to be improved.)
It is based off the Cadillac ATS coupe platform so it is smaller and lighter than the current one.

Some reports are saying it is smaller than the new Mustang.

The current Camaro has gotten lots of praise for it`s driving dynamics so you can only imagine
the magical wonders the Caddy ATS platform is going to do for this car. The hi-end V8 powered models should be right up there with the BMW M3 in driving dynamics. It should be a blast!

Rumors are also floating around that the SS Camaro is slated to get 440hp.

I believe this new version is going to be much more of a world car than the current one.

The current Camaro was engineered in Australia, using the Holden Commodore platform, which is a full size family sedan, which is the reason why it is so large and heavy. Using the smaller ATS platform will be much more suitable for a sports coupe.

Chevrolet reveals 2016 Camaro has lost more than 200 lbs - photos
Debuts May 16

Chevrolet has announced the sixth generation Camaro is more than 200 lbs (90.7 kg) lighter than its predecessor.

The diet was possible thanks to a brand new architecture making extensive use of aluminum, including for the beam that supports the instrument panel which is now 9.7 lbs (4.4 kg) lighter than the steel beam of the outgoing Camaro.

Moreover, both front and rear suspension assemblies are now manufactured from aluminum while the links on some of the versions will use a rigid composite material lighter than aluminum. Thanks to this new lightweight construction, the entire suspension is 21% lighter than on the fifth generation model.

In the previous teaser we learned the Camaro 6 will have more than 70% brand new components, including the body, suspension and interior. The front structure is longer and wider while the V8 6.2-liter engine has gone through some changes to fit the new packaging.

The sixth generation Chevrolet Camaro will be unveiled on May 16 during a special event organized in Detroit.

As a final note, it should be mentioned the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe 1LS (V6 engine) weighs 3,719 lbs (1,686 kg) while the 2SS (V8 engine) tips the scales at 3,935 lbs (1,785 kg).

Lamborghini has demonstrated that their forged composite material can replace control arms for approximately a 25-30% weight reduction over aluminum. Perhaps GM has something similar planned.

Chevrolet shows off 2016 Camaro wheels and brakes
Will be revealed on May 16
Chevrolet has released yet another teaser for the 2016 Camaro, this time showing the wheels and brakes.

The latest episode is Chevrolet’s rather lengthy teasing campaign for the next generation Camaro not only shows the wheels (with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires) and Brembo brakes, but also informs us the engineering team spent nine million hours of computational time during the model’s development and they were able to boost structural stiffness by 28%.

From previous teasers we found out the Camaro 6 will lose more than 200 lbs (90.7 kg) compared to the outgoing model and 70% of all the components are brand new. Moreover, 20% of the components used for the 6.2-liter V8 engine are new in order to match the car's more efficient packaging and the motor has gained tubular "tri-Y"-style exhaust manifolds. The upcoming Camaro will ride on the Alpha platform and will benefit from aluminum front & rear suspension which is 21% lighter than before.

Chevrolet will unveil the sixth generation Camaro on May 16 during a special event organized at Detroit’s Belle Isle Park.

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro revealed on morning TV

One day before its official debut, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro received its cable news reveal and we get to see what it looks like undisguised.
GMInsideNewsforums, members grabbed the first pics of the 2016 Camaro as it was shown Friday morning on CNBC's Squawkbox show.

Based on the parade of teaser shots from Chevy in recent weeks, the Camaro's overall look is in keeping with what we were led to believe. The body is certainly more sculpted than the outgoing model, which debuted back in 2009 after reviving the nameplate left dormant for seven years.

We know now the sixth-generation Camaro will be much lighter than its rather hefty predecessor and get new features such as magnetic ride control on the V8-powered SS models.

Full details will be released tomorrow.

I'll have to see better pics, because right now it looks too much like the current one. That interior is going to be the key. If it is the same tired old GM junk then this car means nothing to me.

^^
I agree and do hope that it won't be the same car.
You can take a look at interior on official web site.
