Camaro [Spy Shots] 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Spied

The Chevrolet Camaro is a mid-size American sports car manufactured by Chevrolet. Production: 1966–2002. 2009–2023.
I think it looks pretty good.
I can see a few changes like the creases in the body work.
Taillights seem to be taken from the new Corvette. Thay are toned down on this new Camero.

I like it so far. Agree about the interior though. I think it will be an improvement over the current one.

I'll have to see better pics, because right now it looks too much like the current one. That interior is going to be the key. If it is the same tired old GM junk then this car means nothing to me.

The current car doesn't look that dated does it? It will probably look more athletic and compact in real life.

Is this a new car? What a let down. 2015 and still no full led headlights. Anyway, it looks fugly overall. In these photos at least...
Need to see some more pics.

I don't think full LED headlights are a priority in the development program, it is suppose to be an affordable V8 engine sports car.

I like it. From what I was expecting, it seems about right. As Merc1 stated, it really comes down to the interior and how light yet rigid the chassis is.

2016 Camaro engine lineup leaked, Entry-Level Mill is a 270 HP Turbo Four-Banger

Just after two GMI forum members uploaded the first pictures of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, further intel surfaced on the sixth-generation Camaro. Without further ado, here's the 2016 Camaro's engine lineup – 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6 and a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8.

According to "a reliable inside source," the Jalopnikcrew was purportedly offered exact output figures for the initial engine lineup of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. So how does the new kid on the pony/muscle car block stack up output-wise against its main competitors?

- 2-liter LTG turbo four-cylinder engine: 270 HP and 290 lb-ft (393 Nm)

This Cadillac-derived 2-point-oh force-fed four-banger is the entry-level option on the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. On the GM Alpha-platformed Cadillac CTS, the 2-liter lump churns out a respectable 272 HP.

In the 2016 Cadillac CT6's case, the 2-liter engine is rated 265 horsepower and it's mated as standard to an all-new eight-speed automatic (the Hydra-Matic 8L45).

By comparison, the entry-level Mustang is animated by an atmospheric 3.7-liter V6 with 300 HP and 280 lb-ft (379 Nm) on tap. As for the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 in the 2015 Dodge Challenger SXT, this naturally aspirated mill makes do with 305 horsepower and no less than 268 lb-ft (363 Nm) of RWD twist.

- 3.6-liter LGX V6: 330 HP and 275 lb-ft (372 Nm) of naturally aspirated get-up-and-go

It's a little bit curious how Jalopnik didn't figure it out yet that the mid-range mill in the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro engine lineup is the same as the one propelling the 2016 Cadillac CT6. In the full-size sedan's case, it's mated to the 8L40 eight-speed automatic and develops 335 HP and 284 lb-ft (385 Nm) of torque.

The middle-of-the-range 2016 Camaro is going head to head with the 2016 Ford Mustang EcoBoost. The 2.3-liter unit in the FoMoCo machine develops 310 HP and 320 lb-ft (433 Nm). As far as the ponderous 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T is concerned, the Mopar machine is rated 375 HP and 410 lb-ft (555 Nm) of torque from its atmospheric 5.7-liter HEMI V8.

- 6.2-liter LT1 small-block V8: 440 HP and 450 lb-ft (610 Nm)

Now that's more like it! What we were expecting since early 2014 came to fruition: the LS-series small-block V8 is gone and in its place comes the Corvette Stingray's V8 tower-of-power, albeit 10 HP down on the C7.

Coupled to the fast-shifting Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic and, most probably, the 7-speed manual of the C7 Corvette, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS will be a thoroughly neat V8 proposition.

Considering that all intel hints towards a 2016 Camaro SS lighter than the 2016 Ford Mustang GT and Dodge Challenger 392 HEMI, this is going to be interesting. Output-wise, the Mustang's 5.0 Coyote V8 churns a meaty 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm). On the other hand, the 392 HEMI 6.4-liter eight-cylinder blunderbuss is the most powerful at 485 horsepower and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm).

On an ending note, we expect the sixth-gen Camaro ZL1 to adopt the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V and 2016 Corvette Z06's LT4 supercharged V8, with a maximum output of 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet (854 Nm). Will there ever be a powerful enough Camaro to take on the Hellcat? It's mum's guess. We hope that the upcoming Z/28 will be able to make the 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang put its money where its mouth is.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Pilot Production Begins in Lansing

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is the most heavily awaited performance car in North America and, incidentally, its predecessor is the best-selling performance car in the U. S. of A. Though in the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro “playbook” we’re told that V6 and V8 production starts late this year, guess what happened today at the automaker’s Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in The Great Lake State.

You’ve guessed it! Pilot production for the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro started and a $175 million investment will see the facility add state-of-the-art tooling and equipment for the manufacturing of the [HASHTAG]#CamaroSix[/HASHTAG]. Mind you, the fifth-gen Camaro will live on until November 20th, when 2015 MY production ends at the Oshawa plant in Ontario, Canada.

GM Grand River Assembly plant improvements come in the guise of three new paint systems for Camaro-specific colors: Summit White, Bright Yellow, and Red Hot. What’s more, the $175 million investment includes the (re)addition of a second shift of 500 jobs late this summer.

In addition to the previously mentioned, two robotic framers will be installed for improving “dimensional control to provide a more precise drive experience,” whatever that means. “We build the best cars in the world right here in Lansing, and we’re delighted to welcome the 2016 Chevy Camaro to the Lansing-made family of great automobiles,” said Mr. Virg Bernero, the Mayor of Lansing.

“I may be the luckiest mayor in America today. Gearing up for full-scale production of the legendary Chevy Camaro is a new high point in the more than two decades of extraordinary partnership between the City of Lansing, General Motors and the UAW,” added Bernero.

As a brief reminder, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will be available in LT and SS grades, with a 2-liter LTG turbo-four acting as the entry-level engine. A 3.6-liter LGX V6 complements the four-banger, but let’s face it - there’s a voice inside our heads that whispers: “get the SS! It’s got the LT1 V8 of the C7 Corvette, man!”

General Motors has confirmed that the convertible version of the new generation Chevrolet Camaro will debut on July 24. The announcement was made through a teaser video which highlights the removable roof of the car. In the description, the company claims that the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro convertible will be the most innovative Camaro Convertible ever. We’re not sure as to what feature(s) it is that makes the next Camaro convertible the “most innovative”. Spyshots of the test mules have indicated that it will retain a soft-top rather than going in for a hard top, redesigned B-Pillars and a raked A-Pillar. The convertible will borrow the engine lineup from the coupe, which includes a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.6-liter V6 and finally a 6.2-liter V8. Paired to these engines are either a 6-speed manual transmission or a new 8-speed automatic with steering-mounted paddles.

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro coupe shed around 90 kg over its predecessor thanks to extensive use of aluminium, whilst not compromising on structural rigidity, which has been increased by 28 percent. According to GM, 70 percent of the components were developed specifically for the new Camaro. It’s unclear if GM is ever developing a RHD version of the Camaro in its lifetime, which if they do, opens up the possibility of launching in markets like India, UK and Australia. Given that its closest rival, the Ford Mustang, is expected to launch in the Indian market by the year end, and that GM India has displayed the Camaro at three consecutive Auto Expos, it wouldn’t be incorrect to expect its Indian launch.

We recently spotted Chevy's upcoming Camaro ZL1 at the Nurburgring and now it’s time to see it in action and hear it roar as well.
V8 Camaro SScan sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.0 seconds and cover the quarter mile in 12.3 seconds, just imagine what performance figures the next ZL1 will boast.

Like the outgoing model, it will inherit the “most powerful Camaro ever built” token with its rumored Z06-sourced, LT4 6.2-litre supercharged powerplant (also found on the Cadillac CTS-V).

It's believed that it won’t produce the sheer amount of grunt as the Corvette does – in order to keep it under the 640 hp supercar – but it will surely pack some serious amount of power, likely surpassing the 580hp 6.2-litre variant used on the previous ZL1 model.

I mean, just look how it takes on the Green Hell, keeping the power on its toes; it won’t only be a tool for old-school drag racing, but it will also be a driver’s car. And you can even see its anger through the camouflage that can barely contain it.

Whether you admit it or not, the car looks fantastic doing its thing on the Nurburgring and it sounds the part too. Let’s just hope we will see more of it before its official debut at the 2016 Detroit motor show in January.
