Why the semi psychedelic camo if it's not the real body ?

I hope it's not yet another Veyron with some sophisticated edition term attached to its name!

I like the VW steering wheel fitted to the mule!! Its the same as my VW CC....LOL:eek::D:ROFLMAO:

They need to reduce the weight of this new car to at least 1650kG (200kg less than Veyron) and then the 1500BHP will certainly make it earth shattering!!

New details are starting to emerge about the highly anticipated Bugatti Veyron replacement likely to be called “Chiron.”

The Bugatti Veyron came out way back in 2005 so obviously the engineers are hard at work on its successor which will be better in just about every single way. Although it will retain the enormous W16 8.0-liter quad turbo engine, output will be bumped from the Veyron Super Sport's 1,200 HP (882 kW) to somewhere in the region of 1,500 HP (1,103 kW) while torque will remain at 1,500 Nm (1,106 lb-ft).

Automobile Magazine says the additional power will be possible by using at least two electrically-powered turbochargers, with the power of the engine being channeled to both axles through a tweaked dual-clutch seven-speed gearbox. The additional oomph will allow the Chiron to hit a maximum speed of 288 mph (463.5 km/h), thus making it quicker than the unrestricted Veyron Super Sport which established a 268 mph (431 km/h) land speed record for a production car. Speaking of the Veyron SS, the production version was electronically limited to 258 mph (415 km/h).

Getting back to the Chiron, the report states a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in less than 2.5 seconds and carbon ceramic brakes to stop the beast efficiently. Other goodies on the menu include active air deflectors, huge rear wing while the overhauled interior will boast a speedometer going all the way up to 500 km/h (310.7 mph). It is believed 92 percent of the Chiron's components will be either new or massively reworked.

As a final note, we remind you VW Group's design chief Walter de Silva described Bugatti's upcoming model as "more than" just a Veyron replacement. He also said it will be a "piece of art" and the firm has put 'a lot of effort in the technology to "redefine the benchmarks" with a supercar that has been in development over the last four years. The car will be previewed towards the end of next year before being introduced sometime in 2016.

Bugatti Chiron will reportedly do 0-100 km/h in 2 seconds

288 mph projected top speed
British magazine CAR is reporting the Bugatti Veyron replacement will do the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in just two seconds.

Just like previous reports, this latest one says Bugatti will use the "Chiron" moniker for its Veyron successor and the car will stick with the W16 8.0-liter engine, even though at one point the engineers considered a 14-cylinder engine. Output is believed to surpass 1,500 PS (1,103 kW) to enable the hypercar achieve "performance figures to shame some F1 cars."

Torque is believed to remain at 1,500 Nm (1,106 lb-ft) just like on the Veyron Super Sport, but the two cars won't have a lot in common as the Chiron will allegedly have 92% new or modified parts. It will allegedly be more useable on a daily basis and the engine is expected to get e-turbos, direct injection and cylinder deactivation.

In terms of performance, the Chiron is believed to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in only 2 seconds, making it half a second quicker compared to the Veyron SS WRE while top speed is bound to increase from 258 mph (415 km/h) to a projected 288 mph (463 km/h).

Bugatti wants the Chiron to return 14 mpg UK (11 mpg US or 20 liters / 100 km) which would make it slightly less thirsty than the Veyron Super Sport which returns 12.2 mpg UK (10.1 mpg US or 23.1 liters / 100 km) in the combined cycle.

Bugatti was originally supposed to launch the new Chiron later this year, but Volkswagen chairman Ferdinand Piech said that it needs more work so now it's penned for a 2016 launch.

Bugatti Chiron revealed by CAR

Full details on 1500bhp Veyron Mk2

How to replace a modern-day supercar legend like the Bugatti Veyron? Why, with an even faster, more tech laden and brawnier hypercar, of course. The new May 2015 issue of CAR magazine lifts the lid on the new 2016 Bugatti Chiron - revealed in our exclusive artist’s impression by Motor Forecast above.

This is a hypercar unlike no other, carrying on where the Veyron 16.4 left off and trampling all over the Top Trumps stats of cars such as the LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918.

Not in driver enjoyment and pure-bred thrills, perhaps, but certainly in all-out stat-off war. The new Bug sticks with 16 cylinders arranged again in W formation (a 14-cylinder engine was contemplated, our sources report), with power set to top 1500bhp for performance figures to shame some F1 cars.

We spill the full beans on the Chiron in a 12-page feature on Bugatti, as we visit Molsheim while they’re finishing the last-ever Veyron, soon to be eclipsed by another hypercar expected to be named after a racing driver: in this case, one Louis Chiron.

Raw specs of new Chiron
CAR’s scoop dossier reveals some startling statistics, that make even the most powerful Veyron Supersport look a little lacking in the trouser department:

Maximum power 1500bhp
Torque target 1106lb ft
Projected top speed 288mph
0-62mph time 2.0sec

Don’t miss the full story in CAR magazine to find out more: why the project has been delayed from a proposed 2015 launch date to 2016 after Volkswagen chairman Ferdinand Piech sent it back to the drawing board; why 92% of the parts are new or modified over the Veyron; and why this Bug will be even more useable day-to-day.

This will be the new tech showcase for the VW brand - featuring cylinder deactivation, electric-actuated turbocharging and direct injection, to make sure the Chiron will be able to achieve 14mpg. The Veyron could drain its fuel tank in just eight minutes at full chat…

That looks like the angriest koala I've ever seen.

So it will not get an electric engine? No hybrid tech on this technology tour de force of the VW group?

Those renders look terrible, Fugly, especially the back, yuck!!

Why on earth do they still use that massively oversized, massively thirsty and heavy engine, W16, 8.0ltr? Koenigsegg are getting 1340PS from a much smaller 5.0ltr V8, I am sure VW group could have used a heavily modified 918 4.6ltr V8 (lets say 750PS on its own with a increase to 5.0ltr) and combined that with more powerful electric motors on all 4 wheels (another 750PS). Then it will also have alot more torque from those electric motors as well!! And much lower consumption as a benefit.

I'm asking myself the same thing. The Veyron's party trick was its blistering acceleration which was achieved by a monumental engine. Today, similar acceleration can be achieved by simply adding an electric motor to the crank.

In a time when a four door Tesla can challenge Lamborghini's on the drag strip, the Chiron(named after Ariel Sharon) will need to be very special to be worthy of a larger than life price tag. I'd be surprised to see what the car will bring to the table that we've not seen in the Regera, LaFerrari, 918 or P1.

it has to do with strain on the engine

if an engine produces the same horsepower on half the volume and cylinders it will probably have 4 times the strain on engine components (i'm guessing this reliability is squared with power and volume or cylinders)

do we have any engineers who can actually equate the strain on the engines in question?
