If we add a few inches on to the wheelbase and stretch the roof panel we get a very good impression of the baby Gran Coupe.

What about the rumored 2 series Gran Sport Tourer? I am intrigued by the sketch from last fall. Is it further along or has the concept been abandoned all together?

Given the hatch won't be brought to the US, this seems to be my only hope for a RWD hatch that is not a SAV in the US. Still don't understand that decision.

Otherwise I may have to just give up an look at the upcoming VW GTI with Performance Pack. The reports on the electronically controlled mechanical diff have me opening up to the idea. But I'd really rather have a BMW.

From CAR, April 2013 issue :

BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer personally sealed the fate of the on-off BMW Z2 roadster , BY DECIDING TO LOCK THE NEXT GEN 2-SERIES RANGE ONTO THE NEW FWD/AWD MATRIX, along with all future 1-series models.

This means the 2-series is FWD.

NOTE that I posted this back in April. Note "NEXT GEN"

The color choice should be à mix With the current 1 series And 4 series With The Melbourne red available And another New color

No sorry , the importance of the i3 takes precedence over everything this month. But there is news in August and September.

In the meantime here is another render of the 2er from Auto Zeitung.
We do know what the car will look like but here it seems they have put that template over a 6er base for this render.

Not having a go at you Scott but really there are many things you post which turn out not to be true, so why should anybody take any notice? I know things change and release schedules change, so why bother revealing anything in the first place?

We are not that far from the 2er now. Next month.

Thanks for the clarification of dates and thanks for the info you always bring.
Without the information that many here provide, accurate or not, we would remain nothing but buy the magazine when they have official photos and the car goes on sale (missing all the fun of knowing things months or years before they are realized and that I think are the basis of this forum).

Of course not all bring, many just criticize ....

So, you're thankful for info which actually turns out to be incorrect and therefore worthless? What makes you think this latest info is correct?

I personally don't see the point.

I could just post random dates. Are you going to thank me?

I don't think it's unfair to question Scott as to the point of posting info that often ends up to be incorrect. Numerous examples of this. Just keep quiet until something is definitely confirmed.

The way you're talking it's as if Scott is doing us all a favour by posting info. You forget he's part of "creative marketing". It's all part of the plan. Now he (or should I say "they" as there is clearly more than one person playing the part of Scott) gets credit and praise when he posts useful info, but that doesn't make them/him immune when it's false info. "Maximum debate" remember.

Thanking Scott for posting insider info is no different to writing to BMW to thank them for their latest television commercial.

But, still some people don't get it.
