SCOOP: 2013 Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible Snagged with its Top Down - CarscoopOur spy photographers continue to capture test mules of the upcoming, next gen. Porsche 911, which is internally referred to as the 991, ahead of the sports car world premiere at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
We have already shown you the regular 911 Carrera models in both coupe and convertible format as well as the 911 Turbo and what we believe is the 911 Turbo S coupe, but now we have some fresh spy shots of the 911 Turbo Convertible with its top down, caught during hot weather testing.
If we're right about the Turbo S model featuring quad exhaust tail pipes instead of the regular Turbo's two large single units on either side of the rear bumper, then this prototype could be wearing the more powerful version of Porsche's force-fed flat-six engine delivering an estimated output of around 550-horsepower.
While we already know that Porsche will show the regular 991s in Frankfurt, it is believed that the Turbo models may make their world premiere later on, possibly at a North American show.
Amber blinkers? Are you kidding me?!?
No way this is going to stay.
The pic/car in which you refer to was from early prototype testing in South Africa. At least with BMW...the early hand built prototype cars are legally and officially classified as experimental cars. At BMW they require a special license/driving school/class to drive. Mostly hardcore early test engineer types. Once a small number of the cars are being produced on the assembly line they transform to early preproduction test mules. At that point a broader number of BMW employees are allowed to test drive the vehicle. My guess is that all logo's/badging are legally required to be blacked out/camo'ed out as long as the car is officially considered experimental. I guess the above would apply to most car companies developing prototype cars. Thanks. PalBayWell, this being published in a car magazine, I think they got the target right. LOL. Plus, Porsche aren't the only ones. I've seen this kind of thing on other make's cars as well when they appear in mag. And yes, that is one lucky ass kid.
This makes more sense. I'd love to know the details though.
