What's really exciting to hear is cylinder deactivation and the use of aluminum, though. Upgrade the parts, upgrade the technology, but for heaven's sake leave the styling alone!

Most definitely I wouldn't want the design to lose it's old world novelty. But cylinder activation is the future of large sedans with large engines. This is one hell of an exicting year for high end sedans, Panamera, W221 facelift, F01, new A8, RR Ghost, Jaguar XJ and a new Arnage.

REPORT: Bentley Arnage successor to go even further upscale, debut at Pebble Beach

The auto show circuit may be on its annual summer break, but that's not going to stop Bentley. A recent report suggests the crew from Crewe is preparing to take the wraps off its next-generation Arnage at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Monterey, California this coming August. And when it does, it'll be bigger and badder than ever.

There's no word yet regarding rumors that the Arnage's replacement could take on Bugatti's W16 or Audi's V12 TDI engines, but reports indicate that the new Arnage – aside from being, you know, new – will be bigger and further upscale from the current, aging behemoth. Apparently Bentley and their corporate overlords at Volkswagen are growing tired of watching their clientele go to arch-rival/former sister-company Rolls-Royce or (heaven forbid) Maybach, but they're still going to take their time: The next-gen Arnage isn't supposed to begin production until a year after the current model, now in its final iteration (pictured above), ceases production. At Pebble Beach we're tipped to see a pre-production prototype that promises to closely mirror the eventual production model, which is expected to take advantage of Audi's modular platform but incorporate a unique V8 engine (probably based on the current Jurassic-era 6.75-liter "perfectly adequate" V8) mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic and likely able to run on E85 ethanol to give the muscle-tank the air of environmental conscience.

Awesome news… Nevertheless it would be sad to say GoodBye to the almost 50 year old V8!!

Should be amazing! I'm just hoping that it won't be made to look like the cheaper Bentleys.

Official teaser: :usa7uh:

I know that cars in those dark teaser pics always look good, but....

This is nothing short of amazing. Looks terrific.
I didn't have great expectations for this car. This just changed... I now can't wait to see what they are coming with.

The Arnage only looked good in the very rare LWB "Limousine" version imo, but its interior always has been splendid and beuatifully crafted.

This teaser seems to hint that the grand Bentley has the potential of looking as aristocratic as the Phantom, but with infinitely more emotion, old-school spirit... with a soul, what the Phantom totally lacks.

This hood reminds me of the stunning Bentley S, sister of the Rolls Silver Cloud...

It's game over guys. The car that will define top-end luxury will soon be here, and I stand by ready to change my avatar the very minute full body images surfaces. Good God the lines of the nose are gorgeous, just like how I want them, well defined but handsome. :eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

This is currently my favourite über-luxury modern car: the Bentley Arnage Limousine by Mulliner. The standard Arnage has a way too short passenger cell, it doesn't look long enough, but this one... (darker wood please, and repalce the ugly TV by a glass separation).

Maybe the new Grand bentley will change this...

It's now obvious ... Started with CGT Bentley will continue with more organic lines. And that will differ Bentley from RR: RR using more formal & hard lines, while Bentley will be softer & informal.

Locomotive look vs. car look.

Even RR Ghost looks like much more angular than this new Arnage.
Arnage will feature thin & sharp & more curvy creases - as already seen on Continental models. While RR creases are still stronger, blunter, and more angular.

Bentley styling being more trendy - with more organic & flame-surfacing-like look (many convex / concave surface shifts).

Just like it has to be.

RR is the "Benz" of über-luxury segment, while Bentley role in the segment is more "BMWish". ;)

Poor Maybach ... It looks like Maybach role is to star "Lexus" there. :D

I spoke to a Bentley PR guy on Monday and he confirm that the design is very evolutionary but yet new and captivating. Further more he mentioned that the car is considerable larger than the existing model, in fact as much as 6 inches longer and we can clearly see that in the spyshots. So in terms of interior space it will draw a sharp sword against the Phantom. A summer release clearly means a July presentation, maybe even at the Salon Privé taking place here in London on the 23rd of July. The Aston Martin One-77 will be there and most likely will the new RR ghost too. I'll be there on the press day and very eager to see all three cars, the Bentley more off course. :D

Peep the slightly arrow shaped nose on the teaser car. A clear reference from the locomotive shaped ancestors.

The old-world spirit will only remain if the decorative character lines have been carried over to the new car. The Continental GT suffer bad ageing because of the lack of these intricate details as they prevent the "bar of soap"-syndrome that has even struck the Veyron which has too many flat surfaces.

Well the Ghost is far from rigid and strong. it's much more car then locomotive (unfortunately). Whereas this Arnage seems very inspired by the glorious 60's Rolls/Bentleys (Silver Cloud and Bentley S).

The front of the Bentley here seems at least as powerful as the Phantom's, yet much more gracious and refined. I'm not sure it will be "trendy" and surely look much more statutory and formal than the Ghost (which is normal given the price difference).

However, these dark teasers can be deceptive as they tend to make any car looks gorgeous.

Concerning Maybach... Well calling them the "Lexus of the über-luxury" is not very kind for Lexus...:D

I think Maybach as a brand managed to establish itself and is now well recognized in the world of the supra-luxo-barges, however the product is a total failure in every aspect.

I'm convinced that if they create a product worth the badge, it will have no problem to sell, as the image is more or less there.

shit my heart just stopped when i saw that teaser..
Im so damn excited:D

I don't think there is anything to be excited about. The new Arnage is going to be very evolutionary in the looks department. The old recipe wonn't change much because it has worked for so many years.

If there is something I'd really like to see. It would definitely be lower kerb weight, improved dynamics, and some kind of hybrid/multi-fuel engine feature.

The car will be more than what meets the eyes. It's development has been funded suing VAG's monstrous funds. From a technological aspect, the new Arnage should be as impressive and innovative as the Panamera and Veyron.

Thank goodness, that teaser shows that it won't have the stupid VW-like rounded front end like the Continental series Bentleys do. There is hope yet.

This is more then exciting...this is a phenomenon. Where not talking about regular car like your everyday BMW or Mercedes-Benz (except for the S-class). We are talking about one of the Greatest Luxury Automakers on earth. A Supreme Automotive expression of the highest Authority.

This is a all New Grand Bentley...something that could possible smack the TASTE out of Rolls-Royce and Maybach. Nothing in this world outclasses a Ultra-Luxury Car.

You are about to experience History.......Get ready!
