Sightings SPOTTED TODAY - Part 7

Interesting vehicle sightings, rare finds, exotic cars, classics, and unexpected encounters.
Mercedes-Benz 280SE Convertible with towing hook at the...

Tow hook or not, it looks beautiful. Lovely spec combo too with that Zebrano wood trim.

Lately, classic Benzes have been more appealing to me as of late. I don't think my 20 year-old self would have thought that possible. The 280SE in particular is such a pretty car, and apparently one in decent condition is fetching a pretty penny these days.

Audi RS4 Avant (B5), only made from 2000–2001. So rare and beautiful!

Current Renault Megane RS in a stunning metallic orange - one of the best driving and handling FWD cars on sale in Europe today. Parked my A250 in the background since these cars are in the same class, but the Megane RS is faster and handles better than my ride.

Mercedes-Benz A45S AMG 4Matic (W177) - too gaudy for my tastes, the less powerful A35 AMG looks better.

1979 (according to the info plaque) MAN truck in Bundeswehr camouflage. I actually saw this truck a few days ago but the sun was so bright that I could not get proper shots. The owner was working inside the massive compartment and I got to glance inside: he's converting it into an RV! The truck had historical plates.

When I was a young lad of 11 through about 13, I managed to accumulate quite a collection of Roco 1:87 scale military vehicle models. The Bundeswehr introduced the first series of that MAN truck back around then (1966-ish) and I recall having bought several of the !:87s'. I also had a good number of Unimogs, DKW Mungas, various Magirus-Deutz, Hanomag, Büssing, Faun and M-B military vehicles as well. Somehow, over several decades, they unfortunately were broken (passed down to young brother) and got lost over a series of relocations.

I still have a small collection of Herpa 1:87 cars and trucks and figures. And in my spare time I work on 1:35 Tamiya, Italeri and Dragon-Kirin military vehicles and figures. :)

Was cycling through Munich and entered a really expensive neighborhood. This house had a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG in the driveway and a BRABUS Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Porsche 911 Turbo out on the street.

Cool memories revived.

I owned a B2 Audi 80 GL back in 1980-81-with the carburated 75HP 1.6 iL 4. A much better ownership experience than that with its' shitbucket predecessor B1. Unfortunately, it got rear-ended by a taxicab on the Ingolstädterstrasse north of Munich/Schwabing. Totalled and replaced by a second-gen VW Scirocco.

I loved those old Renualt R4s'. So funky with the "Revolverschaltung" gearshift. 0-100 km/h by sometime around sunset, but still, fun to drive with more body roll than a drunken elephant.
