Sport Auto - Nordschleife laptimes

I noticed there is a lot of talking about laptimes. Since Sport Auto is a well-known source and well-respected source around the world and the most fairness source we have, I'm starting a list about Sport Auto's laptimes. Factory times won't be included in this thread.

Sport Auto always use the same driver, they always test the cars the way they leave the factory. They tell us a lot of details, such as air temperature, asphalt-temperature, road conditions, tires and so on.

Sport Auto's notes regarding Nordschleife:
For a fast and meaningful round time on the Nordschleife north loop a very soft, round and clean style of driving on the ideal line is crucial. Weaknesses during the chassis tuning are relentlessly uncovered.
Apart from the round time also the brake delays, transverse accelerations and the speeds at all points of the distance are taken up.

That is officially super car times.

Just for the record, the time 8.03 min is done with R-tires and the time 8.13 min without R-tires.

Zonda F should be No1.. they will show us the time soon.. and if you just want sportauto times.. then just wait until they try it cause if they have talented drivers.. it should be on top..

sportauto has one driver and he is very talented, been drinving cars since he was little and done a lot competitions, he is a pro. He drove the CGT in 7.32 min and the rumours say he has driven the new Zonda but its not officiell yet.

Walter Rohrl said he can do the best time in CGT whenever he wants, because he HAS EXPIRIENCE (Group B...)

sure he can but so can HvS. HvS holds the record for fastest production car around Nordschleife, time 7.32 min. Sportautos times are officiell times. Remember this is times from sportauto and not factory times so dont involve factory drivers. Thanks.

no not really since there are not same type of car. BMW Z8 which is a roadster like SL55 have a time of 8.17 min with 400hp. Roadsters has better handling than 4-doors cause of lower center of gravity. So far, the M5 is fastest 4-door sedan but probably only until RS4 has been tested.

BTW SL65 is slower than both M5 and SL55. Next issue of Sportauto, the M6 will be tested, I expect a time less than 8.10 min.

yes but the time for M3 was done by end of year 2000, same period as C32 existed and c32 did it in 8.3x min. C55 was tested many years later. Now there is a competition package for the M3 which will improve laptimes but it havent been tested yet.

Just_me: i know SL55 had a lower COG ... but it weighs much higher than the M5 .. 2 tons + .. and M5 is 1870 Kg I think .. so there is a weight advantage for the M5 ..

anyways .. just thats what i noticed from the list .. thanx btw ..

Aren't Ferraris supposed to have fantastic handling? I'm really suprised to see that many of the Ferraris like the 575 isn't on top of the list. :confused:

doesnt help (the differnece is 120kg according to sportauto), besides Nordschleife is more about power which Hockenheim isnt and there M5 is faster than SL55. But who care about that when SL65 is slower than both M5 and SL55. Expect the M6 to beat M5, SL55/65 :usa7uh:

dont think so, yes the time will be great but I have a feeling Veyron is more a luxury car than a trackcar. Zonda and CGT will be faster.

I'm surprised the SLR has a better time than the CLK_DTM, I would think the DTM is a rawer sports car for the track....maybe different conditions.

The Zonda F with a good driver should be near or at the top of that list....

8.05 not a bad time but still their cars are praised in magazines so I'd expect them to do well on track just like the Ferrari F1 cars.
