We just had the confirmation of the record lap time set by a "factory-standard" Pagani Zonda F on the legendary Nürburging track. Unofficial sources say that the fabulous Zonda F was timed at 7'32" and only a few hundredths of seconds... ahead of the 7'32"44 done by the Carrera GT. Our understanding is that the official confirmation will only be issued by the testers themselves (copyright of information).
Further more, the Super-test set-up by the famous German magazine SportAuto has established that on the total of all parameters, the unmodified Zonda F got 70 points out of 70... The maximum ever achieved. This demonstrates once again the absolute superiority of the technology of Pagani Automobili - a very small company, compared to the giant German manufacturer (with so much more human and financial resources).
The Zonda F, ultimate development of the Zonda project from Horacio Pagani, materialises the famous concept of simpler solutions to highly complex questions. In spite of the colossal experience accumulated by Porsche through half-a-century of competiton and of high-end sports cars production, and in spite of the ultra performance-oriented definition of the Carrera GT (clutch, power curve, etc) the German supercar stays behind the advanced conception and the technological perfection of the mythical Zonda.
We will come back to comment the details of this new record, but what is sure is that this will remain in the History of Sportscar.
