XM [Rumors] BMW X8 plans

The BMW XM is a full-size automobile manufactured in the United States by German marque BMW since 2022. It is a crossover SUV with a plug-in hybrid electric drivetrain, and is the second car developed entirely by BMW M, after the BMW M1 in 1978. Official website: BMW M

Not me being lazy af to draw wheels and just painting them black…

I really don’t like the rear, especially the lights, that shape doesn’t look good at all. It’s unique and all that but does it look like a nice design? Or does it look really aggressive and sporty as this car would demand? I don’t think so…

I still think iX in certain shots photographs badly. But some shots actually make it desirable.
I wonder if the LCI will bring it into the Theme of the new GKL-Klasse.

For the type of automobile that it is, the iX can look quite sensible. It is, however, highly configuration sensitive.

This XM Concept also looks quite interesting. But not presenting it as a dedicated BEV appears patently ridiculous to me.

The prototype's unconventional wheels with center locking mechanism suggest the production model will be getting similar wheels to the Concept's, with huge center caps that are branded with the BMW monogram instead of the BMW roundel, and that are likely floating Rolls-Royce style to ensure the writing is always the right side up (as opposed to the roundel which can be instantly identified no matter its orientation)

The resulting lack of the traditional white and blue touches on the profile view suggests BMW roundels may be mounted elsewhere, namely on the C-pillar, X2 style. This still doesn't answer yuc4life's pertinent remark about the prototype seemingly not wearing any BMW roundel in the middle of the tailgate, and about where it/they will be mounted instead (M1 style?).

Don't think the side profile wrapping rearlights look any good.

A detail that seems to be carried over to production.

...But since the red teaser of the rear end doesn't seem to be showing any X2 style C-pillar roundel, a stylized version of the roundel in shafes of red may be etched into the side of the taillights instead.

I think they’ll be M1 style, since bmwblog also confirmed that the logo will go on a different place.

Perhaps like the original M1 and the M1 Hommage then, yes, not like the Vision M Next or your black and white drawing, i.e. not within the taillights' corners, since bmwblog seemed to suggest you were on the right path but not quite there yet

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
