Some visible quality downgrades and cost cutting measures - the quantity of wood is further reduced (if there will be any choices left vs. pre-LCI), the Bowers & Wilkins speakers on the front door covers are trimmed in burnished metal only in the upper section (the lower section is black and very mainstream looking) and the overall dashboard lighting is utterly simplified and reduced.

While overall impression is good, the new cabin looks better in darker colors (like Tartufo). The contrasting Digital White/Smoke White with certain grey and black parts doesn't look that good, making the whole cabin feel more like an appliance/product rather than a luxury car. Some new shades of beige would fare better than the blunt white colour.

“Mercedes is tacky, too much screens”

BMW: Hold my Beer!

Each to their own. For me it was the most gaudy element of that interior - like a discotheque in a car - and thank goodness that's been consigned to the back catalogue.

Yeah that light bar was the tackiest thing going. Sooo glad it's gone.

It was tasteless. BMW got carried away with their 'crystal' shit and faceted metal surfaces.

The 'Neu Klasse' screen implementation looks completely down-market on the 7 series IMO and that passenger screen is an absolute joke.

The front end is improved, but that wasn't going to be a tough ask, and the rest of what I dislike about the 7, it's off proportions and slab sided surfaces, remain.

Will it have a V8?

Who in their right mind thinks this looks good?

An ambience of relaxation and crafted luxury? I think not.

If this sort of hack job is what is in store for the X5 and X7 interiors, my excitement for these models has been tempered.

At least the exteriors are going to be 👌.

We can agree to disagree because as many screens as the S class has...it's ambience remains relaxing and cosetting. The environment aims to provide a sense of calm and wellness.

The 7 series is confronting, particularly with that passenger screen.

It's an absolute disgrace what BMW is offering with the new 7 Series cockpit. Completely unworthy of a luxury sedan.

BMW used to be the epitome of beautiful and functional interiors. Now they're churning out these carnival-like cockpits. Hopefully, these will be flops, selling like chewed gum.

There is nothing relaxing about seeing a blank 1 meter long hyper screen covered in glare, finger prints and dust.

At least the 7 can be specced with just the centre screen + a panoramic screen that won't be touched. This reduces the footprint of dirty screens.

The S-class interior seems quite elegant, more belonging to this segment of car…
