Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher is in talks with Ferrari with a view to becoming new team manager, according to German media sources.

The 38-year-old retired from racing at the end of last season, though is fully involved in all his team's preparations for the forthcoming campaign, starting in Melbourne on March 18.

"He has been in Maranello [the team's headquarters] more often this year than all the years in the past.," a Ferrari manager told German magazine auto, motor und sport, and claimed that Schumacher was included in all the discussion on key decisions for the Italian outfit.

Schumacher has had all test data and times communicated to him at home, and has been charged with helping his successor, Kimi Raikkonen, settle into his new team.

"Michael's role in the background of the team is clearly defined," said his spokesperson Sabine Kehm.

"Whoever is participating in these sorts of things is being prepared for tasks at a higher level," a team insider told auto, motor und sport.

"It must be that of team boss," the source added.

This was speculated on even before we knew that he was going to retire.

If this happens, it won't be until a few years at least and I think he'd make an awsome team boss.

I don't know about him, but in summertime, i really miss my job, which means i can't stand not having anything to do.

So if i was MCS i would find ASAP a really enjoying and fulfilling job!

Bear in mind that M$ is the person that definitely doesn't need to work EVER again in his life. With all that money he earned he can easily sit back and relax and let other people work for him. If he's workaholic, than that's another story. But he's relatively young and if he becomes a F1 Team boss he can work another 20 years.

:t-cheers:

Plus, he has a fine collection of cars that he takes to trackdays and everyone still wants a piece of him. So he definitely has plenty to do.
Not to mention he has his own kart track in his garden, and a go kart center. Which I've been invited to:D Shh:eusa_shhh

Why not being the new F1 boss? That man has proven countless times that whatever he does, he does it right. I'm pretty sure he can lead Ferrari to many more glorious moments and this time, as the F1 Boss!:usa7uh:
