The whole interior just kinda screams cost cutting. Especially the door panels, when compared to the 213. Just looks like a cheaper simpler design, just me?

Yeah it's just you. You're reaching for something to pile on about. The door panels aren't even close. Similar design like any other brand would have from one car to the next.

Honestly, I don't understand why all these criticisms about the Hyperscreen.

Those who want a more conservative interior can choose the traditional version.

And those who want a more technological environment choose the Hyperscreen.

ITS EASY

I hope you can turn off all those screens. Not very comfortable with all that radiation on long distance night drives

Saab had that right with their "black panel" function way back in the day.

My guess is that there is nothing "Hyper" about it. There are just 3 screens behind a big glass panel. And MB does NOT tell you that.

They advertise Hyperscreen as a 151251inch screen...

The entire interior is more modern and streamlined, sure. It doesn’t look cheaper to me unless you’re simply missing the wood trim. Regardless, it’s the build quality I’m worried about. As any W205 owner would tell you, a lot of the panels looked plenty nice but rattled far too much.

What? I'm not saying they're close? I'm saying the 214's panels look cost cut, cheaper and simpler than the 213's panels.

@Rolf
Yes, I’m sure the facelifted S will get a hyperscreen. Seeing the pictures shown above, we get more than an idea how it’s going look like in the S.

Interesting to notice, that the free standing driver screen is executed the same way as in the S. I would have thought MB corrected this design flaw. On the other hand, whilst driving an S the driver screen doesn’t bother me at all. Sitting behind the wheel it looks different than on pictures.

With the W213, Mercedes put emphasis on making the most elegant and stylish cabin in its class while adding in new tech but it's the opposite with the W214 the new interior tech dominates ahead of style and this is seen in the design of the vents which makes the cabin look like any other cheaper car with slim horizontal vents. Its not special like the W213 which was unique in the class with the lovely circular vents and big slab of wood or metal trim on dash and doors

As the door grab handles and trim looks virtually identical to the C class there is definitely cost cutting evident. I sat in a C class and those door cards and trim feel cheaper than on my W213

Love it, modern and bold.
Not stuck in then last decade like everyone else

What i Dont like is the f#cking iPad instrument cluster like the S class . Should have been integrated like then EQs.

Other than that lovely, especially the doors. Cold modern luxury.

People use to talk shit about previous benzes here when they had lush plush old style interiors saying it looks like the inside of a brothel.

Now it’s cold and modern, still talking shit.

Lol this new one looks even more like a brothel with its ambient lighting.

Gone are the days when the lighting inside the car was only a measly overhead front incandescent light strip.

The new interior its too much Audi, not bad but Mercedes should be more luxury inside.
I dont know maybe I am getting older but I like the interior of the W213 more than the W214, it looks more luxurious and is a lot more elegant. The new cars interior looks a little too sterile and technical for my liking.
