Very good proportions indeed. Very nice design of the lower rear bumper, but would be better in car (or, even better: contrast) colour.
Minimal improvement of the pattern grill, but:
MAKE THE GRILL MORE THREEDIMENSIONAL AGAIN.
So, if the patterns would vary in size, would been arranged like the diamonds had been, and would vary in the arranged deepness, that would be perfect.

looks great. i’m most curious about the headlights and taillights. do you guys think there will be a lightbar?

Loosing the camo in the front will make it look much worse I'm afraid.
Reminds me of covid times when you see a girl with a smoking hot body and beautiful eyes and hair and you think she’s so 10 out of 10. Then she takes her mask off and you realise you had been imagining the hidden part of her face how you wanted her to look instead of how she actually looked and then it’s a 5/10 after all.

This may happen with the new E Class when the camo finally comes completely off

This will be the definition of the word evolutionary, so they would be very stupid if it ends up being ugly according to the beautiful base from which it starts (W213), it seems that the three Germans agreed on these segments when making these two generations practically "the same"; for the third (should) change them completely.

So those who expect big surprises will be disappointed, rather some improvements (especially on the roof/C-pillar), which will permeate and be better discovered as time goes by.

The 911 has been doing this for decades

Actually they are two totally opposite tactics, the 911 never made a substantial change, but gradually.

The other Germans, vary between one to two generations to make a substantial change, perhaps depending on the success of the current model or the ideas presented (or the absence of them) and their relevance with respect to the model they supplant.

Why does Porsche do it like this and Ferrari doesn't? intriguing decisions known best by the motoring elite, both serve their paths

various websites report a delay in the presentation.....

Yeah, looks like Ola Källenius is Roland Voight from Hellraiser. Ola thought the semiconductor shortage would be a boon and he make lots money while selling few cars, but now the "boon" is tuning out to be a torture for him. There's probably and angry mob outside his mansion demanding "Where the f#ck is the new E-Class?!"

@ chickpig, the beauty is this, that a precise date is not indicated, think that a site has even stated that the presentation will take place after September....😡

It's also likely that they're not investing/focusing as much on the segment since EVs/SUVs in the same price range have a brighter future/sell more. It seems like a lot of legacy last generation ICE models suffer from such underinvestment—from the Emirah and next gen Aventador to the German midsize luxury sedan segment as a whole. Revealing the new E-class used to be an event once every decade; now it's not so special anymore.

Not, and no brand that I remember except the New Mini.
As you indicate, Ferrari between 1,2,3 generations completely changes its models and except for certain features, they do not retain anything from the firsts of their history or the last, except "family air" and details.
Nothing like this:

Mercedes, as in this case of the new E, will complete two evolutionary generations, I suppose that the next one (2030), they will change it a lot

hasn't Wyoming/USA banned battery electric vehicles from 2035 or something! Legends!

Jeep does this with the Wrangler as well.
