M2 [Renders] BMW M2 (gen III)

The BMW M2 is a high-performance version of the BMW 2 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. As the 2 Series replaced the 1 Series coupé and convertible models, the first-generation M2 was marketed as the most basic M model in the range. Official website: BMW M
Yes, but there is the M4 and the Supra for this, isn't there?
The M4 is a range above and considerably more expensive than the M2. The Supra is a 2 seater Toyota. All the while the M2 has proven to be a great success for BMW. It's the only car of its kind in the segment. Actually, it's the only car of its kind - period. And that's what makes it so darn appealing.

It is one of a kind. I have intentionally avoided driving an M2 Comp in fear that I would like it so much that I won't be able to stop thinking about getting one.

A 4 cylinder M engine sounds really nice honestly.
Okay, but it would also be a shame not to have the BMW trade mark of the 6-cylinder in the smallest package, the essence of everything

For an abject lesson in engine coarseness vs smoothness, drive a 982 S/GTS back to back with a991.2/992 (specifically the turbocharged variants).

Which one do you consider coarse? I have driven the 982, 982 S and 992 S but not back to back.

Well, the 982 of course. It's a rough, thrummy engine which I don't care much for at all. I have an(other) friend who has a 982 GTS and whilst it's proper fast, its engine leaves me grumpy and cynical. Power but no glory.

correct thread I assuming?

Now that the new 2 series will be coupe only without hatch variant, they should make it lower, closer to Toyota Supra and GT86. Current F22 is too tall for how short it is.

I quite like the fact that the 2-er still has a 2-dr saloon vibe to it, like 3-er coupes used to. I don't want all the coupes to be fast backs.

I find the 2-door sedan shape charming and unique. What I would like to see see on the successor is slimmer tail lights to give the rear a wider look. From the rear the 2 Series Coupe can sometimes look a bit cute.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
