3 Series (G20) [Renders] BMW 3 Series (G20) Rendered

The BMW G20 is the seventh generation of the BMW 3 Series range. Body styles: G20 (sedan), G21 (wagon/touring), G28 BEV (i3), and G28 (long-wheelbase). Predecessor: F30 3 Series. Successor: G50 3 Series. Production: October 2018-2016.
Now that S Class MoPf is here, this is the next car I'm eagerly awaiting.

Quintessential BMW:love:.

This article was probably posted here before, but interesting read M350i with 420bhp not a M340i ? Okay maybe 420bhp might be over enthusiastic, but the designation M350i is quite plausible, judging from history there's always been an increase with each generation E30 325i, E36 328i, E46 330i, E90 335i, F30 340i ....G20 M350i ?

I am aware that in some markets there was a E36 330i in the final years of production.

I hope the real thing doesn't also carry across all my least favourite elements of the G30 design. :(

Damn I'm really excited to see what Munich has in store for us for the upcoming 3-series. That could be 2018's reveal of the year.

F30 is my favourite along with E46. E90 did nothing for me whilst only the E92 M3 truly struck a chord. I much prefer how the F30 and E46 share a similar spirit of approach for both the exterior and interior designs. I was never a fan of that slabby, horizontally partitioned facia which faced straight ahead instead of being canted toward the driver.

Opposite for me, I really like the way the E90 drives and handles. But it's all personal, and objectively the F30 is by far the better and more complete car.

Our neighbourhood roads are trash down here. Lumpy, bumpy, scared, filled, scarified - I look at people driving 320i M-Sports and wonder, simply, why put yourself through all that discomfort? F30 on pragmatically sprung 18" wheels is the sweet spot for the ride and handling trade-off. Even my lovely 19" wheels are an unnecessary compromise.

Yes, I can see where you're coming from. But that problem doesn't exist where I live, every road is flawless over here, so the downsides of the E90 are not as present for me.

And besides, my E90 has 17" rims.

Perfect DLO to sheetmetal ratio; sensational proportions, iconic silhouette and perfectly straight belt line. All hallmarks of the best looking sedan line-up around. All bodes well for the next-gen 3er.

I have to say the Giulia looks so good nowadays. Kind of like I would like the 3er to look like in a certain way.

The problem with the F30 is that it looked too much like the 5er when it came out. The G20 has to have a more individual styling.

That render looks really promissing.

6 cm longer and only 40 kg lighter, could the be right?

From BMW blog/ German AMS:

"Just like the new G30 5 Series, the high-volume seller 3 Series is built upon the CLAR architecture. Thanks to CFRP components and a higher proportion of aluminum, the platform allows the new 3 Series to weigh around 40 kg less than the outgoing model, resulting in a sportier drive and lower fuel consumption."

Next-gen BMW G20 3 Series to be lighter and more premium
